shmerl: Someone spotted this earlier today on the https://www.gog.com/my_promo_status (see attached image). Note the Linux icon for TW3! Is it a mistake or an early leak?
I mentioned that in one of the sale threads, but sadly it looks to be a bad mistake. Even now, just hours before the sale ends, the recommended page is horribly broken. Of the 8 games recommended for me, 4 of them are listed with the wrong platforms -- which still includes Witcher 3 btw.

Would love it if it was true, but I wouldn't get my hopes up :(

darthspudius: This is like complaining because Metal Gear Solid wasn't on N64.
Never played Metal Gear Solid, but did Konami ever plan to release it for N64? So it's an invalid comparison. I'd rather compare it to Street Figher V, which Capcom announced as coming out for Linux, and then never delivered (see here and here). Same thing with TW3 - CDPR failed to release it for Linux despite their own plans.

So why would Linux users pay for Windows to play it if they aren't Windows users for a reason? Of course it's a rhetorical question.

Yeah, it must be a bug, though after the failed promises, it's a pretty annoying one.

Dedicated wishlist entry for Cyberpunk 2077: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/cyberpunk_2077_on_linux
It holds on top quite visibly. Keep it up. Not sure how much CDPR care though these days.
I really hope that they eventually manage to release W3 for Linux. I will delete my last copy of Windows this week. Hopefully, this was not my last time playing W3 :/

Well, at least you are going to delete it. Since telling them "I just played it on Windows" only gives them an extra excuse not to release it for Linux ;)

I think that what could motivate them are the people who haven't bought it yet.

Yup.

No reason to port the game for those who already paid.
Got W3 as a gift on steam for birthday, but since I can't use steam on my laptop, I would definetly buy it again on GOG.......... if they would support linux :P
Vovchigus: I just don't understand why they keep silence for 1,5 years already? Most devs at least in email/twitter tell macOS/Linux plans if any. Nobody asks them for ETA :-(
Can be various reasons. They are now too worried about bad PR for example. After their debacle with "downgrade" they practically stopped all communication, and you can't find any details about their work in progress. Can be also related to their problems with stock market (they were blamed for manipulating the stock by announcing some information about the game). Who knows really - the bottom line, they stonewall any dialog with the community these days.

That's why all great game making companies should be private not public :-P
Can you share a link to read more about their debacle with "downgrade?

Wine staging now includes the fix for allocating more than 32GB of virtual heap:

* https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39885
* https://github.com/wine-compholio/wine-staging/blob/master/patches/ntdll-Grow_Virtual_Heap/0001-ntdll-Remove-memory-limitation-to-32GB-on-64-bit-by-.patch

Which means that it will be possible to test The Witcher 3 in Wine staging without building Wine from source to patch it. I suppose next staging release should include it already.
