Reports speak to the matter of a "frat boy" culture within the company, including harassment, dramatic pay inequality, and pub crawl like "cube crawls" where workers would get drunk and then go around their workstations misbehaving.

As stated within the article, this has not been the first occurrence of such complaints, and Activision-Blizzard has failed to correct this.

Read the formal complaint here.

My take? Burn it all down. There's nothing good left of either company and all that remains is a corrupted festering pit. Arrest Bobby Kotik and hold him responsible for other crimes. Wasn't he the guy with the USB drive at a restaurant table with a "magic trick" anyway?

Do you mean Randy Pitchford from Gearbox?

They sort of blur together after a while, the rogue's gallery of punchable CEOs.

If only we were to live in a capitalistic society where that were possible. Sadly "corporations" (AKA, government-granted benefits and protections) prevent companies from vanishing in all but the most egregious examples. And they shield the individuals [who ruined things at them] in all but the most egregious cases, too.

This appears to be a rather exceptional case, sir.

that is horrible, but also one has to ask if this is real. how can such things happen nowdays in a modern us software company. unbelievable

(disclaimer to all reading: I detest actual workplace harassment/etc, and am not trying to discount/etc any possible actual bad actions at the company being talked about here by what I say below)
avatar
Orkhepaj: pay inequality hah , go to boss ask for rise , if he thinks you deserve it you should get it
A number in today's business world(gaming companies and elsewhere) in the first world seem to think that even if you work less hours/do less work you should get equal pay as those working more hours/doing more work because "fairness and equality".
avatar
Orkhepaj: harassment ... oh no , what is that even?
This is actually a good point.....do we actually know what the alleged harassment was? Because it could be anything from name calling to much more serious things.
(gonna read the link in the OP post in a bit to see what that and the other allegations are all about)
avatar
Orkhepaj: pub crawls who cares if they finish the job
It said "cube crawls"......I am guessing that means that employees would go to other cubicles and act stupid after their work was done. Again, as with the harassment allegations, this could mean nearly anything without more info.
avatar
Orkhepaj: dont like it just leave
Agreed...if it's that bad they should leave to work somewhere that isn't as toxic.
(also if they're still at the company, one has to wonder just how bad the environment is....if they will continue working there yet also file a law suit)

=-=-=-=-=
=-=-=-=-=

Anyways, if the claims are accurate then I hope a good legal remedy is obtained by the employees, and if they aren't then I hope the suit gets dismissed asap.

Well, given the era of Blizzard's founding, and that many of the senior staff there were the ones treating it like a frat house to begin with, (They were young and got lucky; ergo never underwent the maturation of most) the merger with Activatision did nothing to help, since Bobby Parasite is on record of being a complete arse rat, and unabashedly so.

Then the company took on many shall we say, leavings of a particularly alarming sort of...

Well, I can't think of a particular metaphor for that which doesn't simply stoop to their level. Let's just say that person supports torture.

Suffice to say, their morals and ethics headed so far south with such alarming quickness that it had to be measured in lightyears at that point.

After all the scandals and BS for topics of this nature, i'm going to just defer to history and say, "well, when ever someone actually provides something resembling evidence, let me know." And if hearsay isn't good enough for the bible these days, why should i care about accusations without evidence (and there's far more witnesses for the various religions)?

EDIT: Since when did gog become Twatter, anyway? Did someone get banned from there for such libelous and slanderous claims that it has to come to places like GOG instead?

I see that you've taken to not reading the links in the thread. This is something that has been part of an ongoing investigation and a link to the filed complaint is right there in the original post.

Quit baiting me. There's no evidence there. Her primary evidence is that she's paid more with an ambiguous "chief people officer" over this poor dude (i assume Chris is Christopher and not Christa) who is actually going to most likely be handling this case. Imagine being Chris Walter, the chief legal officer (this would imply head lawyer i assume), and some crazy woman is complaining that she's making slightly more money than you, but not more than 3 other people making more money than you, on grounds of sexism. How Chris isn't a meme already is beyond me, because this is meme level stupid already. Oddly enough, her salary is lower, despite her total being higher, which suggests to me that digging into the numbers would get far, far more interesting. Mind you, poor Chris' gender is harder to identify since googling him doesn't result in his page showing up like all the others. Yeah, judging from the rest of the thing from the cube crawls that this is probably not going to heard publicly by a judge. This is embarrassing for all involved.

Well, I skimmed the legal stuff a bit. Didn't read much of it as of yet(beyond stuff that doesn't seem like it belongs in a legal document, like the bits about female staff ratios being "only" 20% and how the company is run by white men), but I personally think(key word) this is likely little more than a quick cash grab attempt and don't think this will last long in court.

My take? Once again I fail to understand why random people on the Internet get so personally invested in stuff like this. It has nothing to do with any of us. Let the legal process take its course. What's the use of a forum court of public opinion getting riled up?. No one here has anything to gain from seeing "it all burn down", other than some perverse pleasure of seeing plenty of people out of a job over a few people (allegedly) acting like boneheads. Not that the entire company going down over this is in any way, shape or form realistic.

You don't like Activision/Blizzard? Don't buy their games. Criticise their business/game making decisions as a gamer and "lost" customer. But this internal and personal stuff has nothing to do with anyone outside. What's the need for turning it into a public drama? I sometimes feel like big companies today elicit the kind of emotional, over the top response in people like movie stars used to in Hollywood's golden age.

This is another lolsuit coming, mark my words. The more of the petty crap i read, the more interesting it gets. It's funny, thebottom says injunctive and monetary relief, but if you actually get to the bit where they talk about what they're asking for, it's all money, and they repeat requests, too! They say twice about extra money from the court (beyond what the court deems would be fair, which is called "punitive damages" which is meant to be a punishment tactic). This is one of those that's long and complex in hopes no one reads it, kinda like modern news articles with flamebait headlines. Which reminds me, why did i bother reading this thread with such an obvious forum title?

But, you're right, this has nothing to do with you, me, or anyone else on GOG's forums. This really is a cry for attention, especially as they're demanding a jury trial, instead of going before a judge.... for a lawsuit of a particular political bias.... in california of all places. And this is a governmental department heading the lolsuit, and they can't even aim criminal or just go through the judge? Looks to me like they're trying to scare activision into settling out of the courtroom. Especially after "cube crawl," no one's reading all 29 pages.
