People find it cool to swear they hate something because "everyone" else likes it. But they too, rush out and buy whatever it is as they really do like it; but liking it isn't cool... Thus we get to the point where those who proclaim their hatred the loudest are obviously the most die-hard fans trying too hard to pretend they hate it =)

Well, that might be true for some, but I truly don't like anything of it. I don't like the way it sounds, the way it is presented, and the way it exists. But, considering that I barely watch TV, don't listen to the radio, and generally show no interest in it, I manage to avoid most of it.
I like classical, metal and peculiar folk-like "Egyptian"/"Middle-Eastern" ambient and stuff, which is generally quite different.

How about classical egyptian metal?

Thing that confuses me:
Why people still complain about the over-abundance of WWII games. It's really not as bad as people make it out to seem. In fact i'd say that the whole modern combat setting is being used to death.

Why the hell don't people make more WW1 games? Sure it wouldn't make the best FPS (the bits in The Darkness don't count) but there's plenty of other options.

Survival Horror/Thriller (I reckon this one has the best potential)
Combat Flight Sim (These have actually been done fairly well)

Probably because WW1 was all-out trench warfare. There weren't really any tanks or massive airraids, at least not at the start. The opposing armies would typically have a trench each with a certain distance of "no-man's land" between them at the frontlines. Behind the front trenches there were more trenches, so if the enemy overran one trench you could fall back to the next, rinse and repeat. Some entrenched positions didn't move an inch in either direction through years of fighting and about a million dead each year.
Which means the most common WW1 scenario isn't really set out for a blockbuster FPS title.

For the survival horror part i think : RTCW was rather close. I never forget the bridge collapsing under my feet wearing a headset and being face to face with a load of zombies.

Well, it was called WORLD war one for a reason. It was a huge war, and the trench warfare on the western front was only one part of the whole thing.

yeah i agree , i even recall here in the ardens in belgium , that they lied in front of each other for 2 years. Some of them even became friends. They didn't know what they where doing there except for freezing their ass off.

The most famous incident occurred all over the western frontlines at christmas day 1914, when several spontaneous truces broke out independent of eachother. Soldiers from the British and German armies met up in the middle of no-man's land, where they sang christmas songs and consumed alcohol together.
When the british high command found out, they were not amused. Eventually though, they negotiated an official one-day truce for christmas day. Famously, the British officer in charge of negotiating the truce was offered an entire barrel of fine lager as a christmas present from the germans, but hadn't prepared anything in return. He called for one of his men and had them bring the germans a ... plum pudding.
