(I know this is already OLD NEWS in ze internetz,
but I might create a thread in the general forum, instead of the buried topic in the subforum.) :-)

Yes, this fucking gigantic fan patch came out of nowhere, you wouldn't believe how surprised I was when reading the changelog. There are rumors that the person or team who made this (Le Corbeau) must have access to the source code of the games/engine. It is informally called the NewDark patch.

It also works for Thief 1. With this patch you don't need ddfix anymore, just install the game and this patch and play.

A lot of mods will become obsolete with this release of NewDark. And then a fucking flood of new levels and new mods will probably be released for the three games, like including new high poly models/objects, you name it.

TL;DR: Long live T1/T2/SS2, YAY!

It's been discussed. :D
it's OK,

my love for these three games won't be reduced because of a repost. :)
I'm eager to try this but not sure whether to bother on my laptop. Plus I would have to "pirate" SS2, since I sold the box a while ago.

Can't wait though, these three games are some of my favorites and from the "golden age" of my own personal gaming life.
So can you just use this patch with the GOG versions of Thief and Thief 2?

Yes, I tried with Thief 2 and a non-GOG copy of System Shock 2. :)

Thx, man. Well, I'd better try this out then. :)

I've done exactly the same thing - it works wonderfully well, but its killed the cutscenes and mission briefings in both games for me, for some reason...;(
If anyone can think of a reason why, feel free to enlighten me please!
I would check the readme(s). Otherwise the wisest place to look is the main official or fan forum for either games or where they first posted the update(s).

You must pre-patch the games to the latest version (v2.3 for SS2) before applying the unofficial patch. I didn't do this at first and it killed the System Shock 2 cutscences for me. For System Shock 2, just copy the SHOCK folder from the CD to your hard drive and install the SS2Tool to patch the game to the latest official version:

After you've done this you can apply the unofficial patch. At least in my case this fixed the playback of the cutscenes. I haven't tried the Thief 2 patch yet.

Le corbeau means "The crow" in french ^^ Ironically enough it's also a term used to describe people who send anonymous letters/ written threats to scare or blackmail other people ^^

One would think, our anonymous guy is the opposite of a corbeau :P.

Judging by the original post on the forum, I think he was more inspired by the fable "Le Corbeau et le Renard" :-)
