With the release of my Linux Wine wrapper for The Witcher, I've decided to run another small giveaway :)

In this giveaway are The Witcher and The Witcher 2, the latter of which has official Linux support. Hopefully CDPR will eventually bring The Witcher 3 to Linux too - considering their stance regarding things like DRM and respect for their customers/users, CDPR & Linux would seem like a perfect fit for each other. Even if they lack the resources/skill to port it in-house they could get an experienced third party developer like Feral or Aspyr to port it.

Still, at least Wine seems to be not too far off from being able to run TW3 now, although it will never be as good as a properly done native port.

Again I'd also like to encourage anyone even a little bit interested in Linux to take a look at the beginner's guide I wrote & perhaps give Linux a try: The "Try Linux" Repost/Rewrite (a "beginner's guide") :)

Anyway, the prizes in this giveaway are:

> The Witcher + The Witcher 2
> The Witcher
> The Witcher 2

To enter, simply post here listing what you're entering for in order of preference.

The giveaway will run until Thursday 6th April at 20:00 UTC. Due to problems with downrepping in previous giveaways, the winners will *not* be publicly revealed unless they decide to do so themselves.

Rules:
- No rep requirement but I reserve the right to disqualify entries at my discretion.
- Winners will be selected randomly after the giveaway ends
- Each winner will receive one prize - whichever of the remaining prizes is their most preferred.
- Please only enter for games that you don't already have.
- Please only enter for games that your system can run.
- Please only enter for games that you're interested in, intend to play & won't just let rot in a backlog.
- Keys are for your own use only/not to be traded (except for leftovers/duplicates from multi-game keys which may be re-gifted but not traded)
- Anything not redeemed within one week after being awarded may be given to another entrant or reused for a future giveaway.

You're probably the best person to be asked this question, is there anyway to run gog games over android?

It's not something I've really looked into, but it should be possible to get at least some DOSBox games running, as there are a number of unofficial DOSBox ports for Android. Other games not so likely. There are things like CrossOver Android that *might* work, but they require an Intel/x86 based system

Depends on the game.

DOS games, which GOG have packaged together with DOSBox, can be run in one of multiple DOSBox ports for Android.

Windows games -on the other hand- is a different question.

There is a version of Crossover currently in preview for Android, which you can try (if your phone or tablet has an Intel processor, which is unlikely as most run on ARM). Crossover is a version of Wine, which is used to run Windows software on Linux and macOS.

If you happen to have a license for Windows 95 (maybe works with 98 too?), though, you may also try to install that in DOSBox, which we already know exists. It won't be easy, but it can be done. That would give you an option for playing mid-90's Windows games on your phone.

Beyond that, though? No.

Also, getting the files there and set up to run correctly, that's a different natter entirely.

EDIT: Hey, adamhm posted as I was typing.

Probably not. Sign up and try it out the preview. Tell us how well it works.

Not in, have both of them.

But never played them due to system requirements but - with a bit better hardware I have and your script (thanks a lot for your efforts once again!) - I suppose I'll try in the next few weeks.

+1 for the giveaway and +oo for supporting Linux gamers, adamhm!

Shouldn't this be "Linux POL Wine wrapper", as it's a prerequisite, and what's the question?

No, my wrappers do not need/use PlayOnLinux - they only acquire & use PlayOnLinux's Wine packages. The question tag is used as it has been with all of my previous giveaways- as a means to mark the giveaway as over.

Oh, so you are just downloading the engines? You may be interested in the new WineHQ build server. It's not quite live yet and I believe there will be some minor changes tomorrow. They now package stable builds as well as keeping older builds (going forward).
I haven't checked out the script yet as I haven't downloaded it yet and that's the only way to read it even if it's just text.

Yes, just their Wine builds - they're very convenient as they're basically provided as tarballs that can simply be extracted to the target path ready for use. Thanks for the link, I'll check that out :)
I intended to play first person shooter games like.. The Shadow Warrior Classic And Shadow Warrior 2, The Far cry series, and the neverwinter nights series was great to play too.. Thanks for the giveaway bro!

If you into adventure games, some of the ScummVM supported games are sold on GOG and run without problem on Android.
