The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut, the highly acclaimed RPG by CD Projekt RED, will come to GOG’s storefront with tons of exclusive free goodies on May 10th for a regular price of $9.99--but we're offering a special discount in commemoration of The Witcher 2 coming to GOG.com. The game will be available at a 50% discount from May 10 until May 24, and will cost only $4.99!

The Witcher is an action RPG based on books by popular Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. The player takes the role of Geralt of Rivia, the witcher (a professional monster slayer). GOG's version of the game is the most complete and comes with loads of free goodies including: game guide, soundtrack, music inspired by the game, The Witcher story, The Witcher "sexy" calendar, artbook and more!

Speaking of The Witcher franchise, starting from 10th of May all GOG.com users who want to buy the highly anticipated sequel to Geralt’s adventures, will have the opportunity to pre-purchase the game and pre-download almost all of it, so on May 17 when the game is released, they can play it almost instantly! Thanks to the brand new GOG.com downloader the pre-download will go fast and easy.

Pro Tip: The Witcher 2 preorder offer on GOG.com ends on the 16th of May at 5:59 p.m. EDT, so anyone who wants to take advantage of the incredible preorder offer should make a point to visit the pre-order page before then and snag their copy of the game. Also note that if you’ve preordered The Witcher 2 from GOG.com, you will have until the end of May to purchase the game and receive all of the preorder goodies, so don’t forget!
I am glad Gog are releasing the Witcher Enhanced Edition.
I'm still waiting for the release of the Thief series = /
Definitely going to pick this up when it's available. I have the boxed version of the Enhanced Edition, but it'll be nice to be able to install without the discs and pre-patched to 1.5 which removes the DRM. Meaning I won't have the DRM in the first place.
I'll pick it up as I never played the enhanced version, I got the original pre-order when it came out in the UK and as I was on holiday and the weather sucked(As per usual) completed it within a week and moved on to another game.

One of the best RPG's Ive ever played especially at the time I would consider them a "small studio" and Ive played id say over 50 rpgs.

I did get 4 people I know to buy the game and they all loved it, even a non rpg fan so I feel like I did my bit as a contribution :)

And at $5 its an absolute steal.

Havent decided what version of Witcher 2 I want yet, Im thinking fancy collectors boxset
Depending on the goodies, I might buy the GOG version of Witcher 1, even thought I already have the EE edition on disc. But then I'll only take it on discount price.
I am happy with the latest news. Gosh darn it, gog has finally convinced me. I feel obliged to preorder and purchase The Witcher 2 here on gog even though I prefer boxed games and even though my current computer won't handle the specs well. It is voting with my wallet for drm free to encourage more publishers to get on board. That's what I tell myself anyway.
Ehr, I already bought this game twice.
Any chance that GoG could give us chance to add the retail game to our GoG account?

Already have a boxed copy of The Witcher, but a simple installer for the fully updated game plus the extras is definitely worth $10 to me, and at $5 it almost feels like I'm ripping them off.
I just don't get the timing.

As I posted in another thread:

Witcher on GOG: Fantastic! I've been waiting. Can we buy it now? Oh, we get to *wait* for it? It'll be available on May 10... Witcher 2 will be released on May 17... Well, I have a life and doubt I'll be able to finish the first game in seven days... Guess I'll have to play the disc version if I want to replay the first game before playing the second. Nice deal, tho. Too bad the timing kills any sense of excitement.
Why in the name of jesus i bought it off steam and now i dont have money to buy it here...

Moral of the story: bad things happen to people who sell their souls to Satan.
Ummmm...am I the only one who noticed that the price is probably a typo...if you go to the page for the game it's 49.99 and 44.99 respectively...someone forgot to add a 4 to the price in the post. I should hold them to it ...

Definitely grabbing this as soon as it is released, just for the sake of having here on GOG and not on another service.

Just...stop. Stop with the Steam hate. Everyone. It's old.

Anyway, I would like to have a DRM-free version of the game on a storage drive somewhere, just in case something happens to my Steam account. Still, though, you'd think CDP would have added this game to their catalogue at the very beginning.

That's for The Witcher 2, I think. This is the first game.

People keep asking this and the short answer is: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Long answer:
They can't because anyone who buys the game here gets a bunch of extras and if they allowed retail buyers to add the game here those people would possibly also get the bonus stuff for free which wouldn't be right. You're paying here for the bonus stuff and the digital installer and it's compatibility with newer OSs and all the latest game files in one package, so it wouldn't make sense for them to give anything included with the package away for free to those who bought retail.

ddmuse:
1. Those who buy may have finished the 1st game already and are just buying this version to support GOG/no-drm movement/get bonus stuff & as such they can easily be ready for the Witcher 2 come the 17th.

2. Some people will buy the Witcher 2 and not play it until they finish the 1st one, regardless of having it on that day.
