The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut, the highly acclaimed RPG by CD Projekt RED, will come to GOG’s storefront with tons of exclusive free goodies on May 10th for a regular price of $9.99--but we're offering a special discount in commemoration of The Witcher 2 coming to GOG.com. The game will be available at a 50% discount from May 10 until May 24, and will cost only $4.99!

The Witcher is an action RPG based on books by popular Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. The player takes the role of Geralt of Rivia, the witcher (a professional monster slayer). GOG's version of the game is the most complete and comes with loads of free goodies including: game guide, soundtrack, music inspired by the game, The Witcher story, The Witcher "sexy" calendar, artbook and more!

Speaking of The Witcher franchise, starting from 10th of May all GOG.com users who want to buy the highly anticipated sequel to Geralt’s adventures, will have the opportunity to pre-purchase the game and pre-download almost all of it, so on May 17 when the game is released, they can play it almost instantly! Thanks to the brand new GOG.com downloader the pre-download will go fast and easy.

Pro Tip: The Witcher 2 preorder offer on GOG.com ends on the 16th of May at 5:59 p.m. EDT, so anyone who wants to take advantage of the incredible preorder offer should make a point to visit the pre-order page before then and snag their copy of the game. Also note that if you’ve preordered The Witcher 2 from GOG.com, you will have until the end of May to purchase the game and receive all of the preorder goodies, so don’t forget!

GameRager: Many here can finish it in a week though, and as I said before even those who want to play the first one or replay it before #2 can do so...just put off buying or playing Witcher 2 for a few days. :\
Yes, but why would anyone that's preordered the second game *want* to delay playing it just because GOG has chosen to release the first game later rather than sooner? More likely, most of us will be playing or replaying a non-GOG version now so that we can play our W2 preorders on release day.

Don't get me wrong; I'm glad to get Witcher on GOG. I just wish the timing were better.
Glad to see GOG is getting arguably one of the greatest RPGs ever made. I think it will sit nicely on my shelf amid such great RPG classics as Fallout and Planescape: Torment, a trifecta of RPG goodness for all to behold.

Um not all of us have to play something the very first day ya know. :p

Also again, if you HAVE to play it over then play a non-gog copy and buy the Gog version on the 10th as well to get the bonuses if one wants. Or play Witcher 2 after the 17th. Simple as that.
The main reason it took so long for the first Witcher to make it to GOG is because the retail copy is still widely available for $19.99. Typically developers have an agreement not to undercut retailers with the digital edition.

I don't know how they're making it happen, but getting this game a week before the sequels release, for such a great price, is a great deal for us. I already have a physical copy but $4.99 isn't too bad a price to get a fully patched uncensored version.

I think that they hope to reach new customers which would otherwise not have bought Witcher at all because it's partly an old game now, so a higher sales volume will compensate the lower price. And partly to help selling TW2, people who play Witcher could become interested in playing TW2.

I for myself like this offer and although I already have Wichter Directors Cut I will maybe buy it here and gift it to somebody, if there is anybody out there who still doesn't have it.
Considering how many GOG-ers have already purchased the Witcher (often multiple times over), I'm happy that my purposefully not having bought it over the years means I'll benefit a great deal from buying here for $4.99 and playing it for the first time. Maybe my laptop can even run it. We'll see...
will definitely get it once it comes out may 10th

For only 5 bucks you really cannot go wrong, especially with all those goodies

Fixed that for you.
"This is blasphemy. This is madness."
"Madness?
This is GOG!"

and everyone: Insta-Buy! :D
I've never played the Enhanced Edition since I own the original boxed release and never updated. I will be double-dipping however. :)

Just want to let you know that I fit that description ("anybody out there who still doesn't have it") nicely :-D

Bavarian: That's only 10. :P

But great to know! Now, all that needs to be done to make me completely happy, is adding different languages to all the other games in the catalogue.
You don't ask for much, do you? :P

Okay, that fits really. I will announce the giveaway then when the sale starts. :)
Curse you! I got this on steam for about £10 during a sale. If I had known you were gonna sell it cheaper on here I woulda waited. *angry noises*
