The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut, the highly acclaimed RPG by CD Projekt RED, will come to GOG’s storefront with tons of exclusive free goodies on May 10th for a regular price of $9.99--but we're offering a special discount in commemoration of The Witcher 2 coming to GOG.com. The game will be available at a 50% discount from May 10 until May 24, and will cost only $4.99!

The Witcher is an action RPG based on books by popular Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. The player takes the role of Geralt of Rivia, the witcher (a professional monster slayer). GOG's version of the game is the most complete and comes with loads of free goodies including: game guide, soundtrack, music inspired by the game, The Witcher story, The Witcher "sexy" calendar, artbook and more!

Speaking of The Witcher franchise, starting from 10th of May all GOG.com users who want to buy the highly anticipated sequel to Geralt’s adventures, will have the opportunity to pre-purchase the game and pre-download almost all of it, so on May 17 when the game is released, they can play it almost instantly! Thanks to the brand new GOG.com downloader the pre-download will go fast and easy.

Pro Tip: The Witcher 2 preorder offer on GOG.com ends on the 16th of May at 5:59 p.m. EDT, so anyone who wants to take advantage of the incredible preorder offer should make a point to visit the pre-order page before then and snag their copy of the game. Also note that if you’ve preordered The Witcher 2 from GOG.com, you will have until the end of May to purchase the game and receive all of the preorder goodies, so don’t forget!

MOGEnrique: I posted this in another thread but have not received an answer yet.

I'm also wondering, why is the 'Director's Cut' smaller in size than the 'Enhanced Edition' I got from Steam? The system requirements in GOG say that I need at least 8.5GB of free disc space, while on Steam I need 15GB.

Did they remove quests or something? I'm dual booting W7 on a Macbook and I haven't been able to install the game because I don't have enough space (13GB) and I don't want to re-install my partition all over again. I don't mind buying it again from GOG if it's smaller in size, that way I would be able to install it. But I want to know why is it smaller.

Thanks in advance.
Hi, i think that they removed the movies from the making of, i have the enhaced version from Steam, and ocuppies a lot of space. sorry for my english.

I already own a retail Enhanced Edition box and another copy on Steam. I am so sorely tempted to buy it again just because I love the game and GoG so much. The $5 price doesn't hurt, either ;)

swordsandroses: Is there any chance that GoG can throw in an PDF artbook, like there is one for The Witcher 2?
To be honest, I think it would make all the difference. I'd personally buy it again here just for the drawings, even though I already own it.
Looking at the description of it in store page the free content says the artbook is included.
I did notice, on the second look. I was caressing that part of the text with my eyeballs. Can't wait!

Where you from btw? Auckland here :)
Supposedly there has been minor alterations to the game to pass censorship in Australia. Will Australians who buy the game off gog have the game censored too?
I bought the game three times (and gave one copy away) so I'm good for now - although the Tages driver keeps giving me errors whenever I start Windows 7 so I might get it on GOG anyway.

But yeah, this is WAY too late to release the game. The Witcher is a game you shouldn't rush through - it should have been released on the first of May to give people a chance to complete it at their leisure.

Well as I said before, some could play older copies before May 10th and still buy the gog version for extras/ease of install/to support GOG.....or they could even  Play TW2 slightly after release day! :close eek:
any chance I could swap out one of my free choices that came with the pre-order for Witcher 2?

it's not that I'm too cheap to pay $5 for the first witcher, it's just that I don't particularly care for (or against) the choices ... they are just sort of -blah- titles to me.

ehh, never mind, I'll just pay for it and think of it as paying $50 for a combo pack of Witcher 1 & 2 (vs $45 for just the second game)

You can remove Tages after you updated to the latest 1.5 version of The Witcher.

Scroll down to "Q: How to remove TAGES ? ( while using patch 1.5 )":

GOG only sell one version of any game they list for sale. So have no fear, you can fully experience all the sexual content an innuendo Witcher has to offer.

I have a question also. When I played the Witcher demo, the camera was driving me insane. Was it improved in the EE version. Between the camera going nuts and clicking like mad and him not attacking, I quivkly lost interest. I think I understand the combat better but I'm still quite hesitant to take another stab at not only an RPG, but one where I can't control who or what I;m looking at.

Kabuto: clicking like mad
That would be why he wasn't attacking.
Did GOG ever decide what they'd do for a bonus game for people who have all 5 of the options?

I had to do a double check on the store page to make sure as well.

The good ol' capital Wellington, man that was a doozy of a twister up in Albany the other day.

They had said they'd pick a different game, or let you pick a different game, or something along the lines of someone and definitely a different game.

Had that changed somewhere along the way, that's it not certain anymore?
