Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption


Patch 20190106.patch4 (15 January 2019)

We've updated Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption with several "quality of life" improvements along with dozens of game tweaks (mostly audio, along with a "final" fix to the long-troublesome Katie quest chain) to reported issues. GoG will automatically give you the new update when you play the game.
The biggest changes are in the Settings page - now also available from the main menu. A much-requested feature is the ability to speed up character (including monsters and other non-player characters) in the game. If you like a faster pace, this feature is for you. Character animation might look a bit strange at higher speeds.
Also added to settings are options for switching between full screen and windowed mode and some other options for the adventurous.
"Done" items in the Journal To Do list now show the most recently completed ones on top so you don't have to page to the end to see your progress.
Deleting game saves now works better.
The Boss Wraith battle is now slightly more challenging with the Wraith's ability to summon monsters to help him. The well-prepared player will still get through it just fine, but it's no longer a pushover.

Speaking of bosses, we've decided to make the Rogue to Redemption Bestiary a free download! This is a beautiful art book PDF with all of the Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption monsters and a few strategy tips. For now, click on "View the quick reference" on our store page to download it. Most event vendors will refresh their inventories when a purchase is made, allowing you to stockpile event tokens and make your event item purchases in bulk.

Base Game Fixes

Fixed issue causing Rojo the Lucky to appear before the moons have aligned and cause an infinite event loop.
Optimized resource handling for maps / events / items. Loading times on older systems should be faster.
Fixed an issue with starting a New Game+ when multiple NG+ files caused the selection scrollbar to appear.
Fixed an issue when loading saves from (very) Early Access that had references to old data.

Combat

All non-boss enemies now use specific abilities when Charmed or Taunted.
Enemies that increase in size from buffs will no longer scale so large as to be unclickable.

Hacking

Fixed softlock in Hacking combat if Ambush dealt the final blow to the last remaining enemy.
Fleeing in Hacking combat now attempts to retreat to the last Node you accessed. If no Node is available, an emergency Jack Out is performed. Node defenders will regenerate if you flee.
Hackmaps now generate with extra space on borders to avoid appearing under UI elements.
Snafu enemies that Divide will now properly inherit the size increase of their stacks of Surge.
All versions of the Sample ability now correctly restore Masking when dealing damage.
Having a full meatspace inventory will no longer prevent purchasing items in the Hackshop.

Misc

Minor text fixes.
Known Issue : there is a lingering “Nothing of interest remains.” event softlock - we are hunting it down.
Known Issue : failing to flee from combat causes a softlock if Sticky Combat Ability Wheel is active under Controls. Disabling this option prior to fleeing will avoid the issue until it is patched.
Known Issue : a category of Dossiers is failing to spawn for a certain faction - we are hunting it down.

In case somebody is wondering. Figment has been updated without any changelog.
Since I own the game on Steam and now on GOG as well I noticed that GOGs installer alone was about 3GB. Extracted size was about 8GB. The Steam version only was about 1GB extracted so I contacted the devs on their discord and they told me that it has been 8GB when they released the game but they managed to get it smaller. It should have been smaller on GOG as well but it seems as if something went wrong with the latest update so GOG kept the old files as well. The devs promised me to get in contact with GOG after New Year and they did. The filesize has now be fixed.

Also: Orphan has been updated to ver. 1.0.2.2 - No changelog yet.

It's marked as updated to version 1.0.6 on 13/12/2018, but the offline installers are still stuck on 1.0.5.

Indeed it has but like you say with no changelog we have no idea if it is the bugged and data collecting version that has been uploaded or a fixed version.

I do wish GOG made it a requirement that devs must include a changelog with every update no matter the game.

GOG's offline installers never follow any workflow guidelines, if they have any.

And, after I routinely reported the fail of GOG's update flag system, their failure rate is still up to 20%.

- Added a dialog to set priorities for dwarves tasks. In a compact version of the dialogue, the player can choose one of the following options: preparation for the battle - focus on the manufacture of weapons; resource collection - extraction and transfer of collected resources; balanced mode and custom. In the extended dialogue player can change settings for each of the modes in order to customize the behavior of the dwarves at his wish.
- Added the ability to create modifications of the game using a special editor. It allows you to add new blocks, items, weapons and armor, create secret rooms, change the technology tree, etc.
You can activate downloaded mods in the main menu of the game.
- Now in the "sandbox" mode recipes for items fall out in accordance with their presence in the technology tree. The same applies to items that can be crafted knowing the recipe but not yet found it in the game.
