It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Nirth: That's convenient, this way newbies will have less issues because of Vista/Win7 UAC system.

F4LL0UT: Curiously I have not had a single issue because of the "program files" folder. Is this only a problem if you don't have admin rights?
It becomes a problem with older games and, sometimes, UAC. Also, save games get affected for older games IIRC as they tend to save in their own directory unlike newer games that are set up to leave saves in AppData\Local.

That depends on the game. WadjetEye saves to Saved Games.

Of course :D. I was going by the general behavior of most newer games. As always, exceptions do arise :D
Heck, I've got games in AppData/Local/, AppData/Roaming, AppData/LocalLow, in Saved Games, in My Documents, and My Documents/My Games/. At least from what I've seen, there is no consistency whatsoever.

That's an industry wide thing, it seems.

Most of my GOG saves (for older games) seem to be in AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com.

Newer GOG titles, like Legend of Grimrock, store the saves in different folders based on what the developer programmed, since those games show up through other distributors as well. These are the ones in My Docs, My Saved Games, etc.
They should put them in C:\GOG\Saves and we can all rest easy knowing we just need to copy that one folder and every save is backed up. :P

I presume that this would be almost impossible to achieve as the locations where the games put their saves and look for them are almost always hardcoded into the games' binaries. I guess any ways to circumvent this would be both awkward and prone to errors (i.e. by running the game through a batch file that relocates the savegames when starting a game and quitting it).

A bunch of games got updated with the new installer (and also got a Mac version perhaps, I don't watch the Mac stuff as I have no Mac), without notification it seems.
The ones I did catch (curiously all Interplay games):

Descent 1+2 -> 2.0.0.7
Earthworm Jim 1+2 -> 2.0.0.7
Fallout -> 2.0.0.14
Kingdom: the Far Reaches -> 2.0.0.11
MDK -> 2.0.0.21
Redneck Rampage Collection -> 2.0.0.11
Screamer -> 2.0.0.10
Shattered Steel -> 2.0.0.6
Stonekeep -> 2.0.0.10
VR Soccer '96 -> 2.0.0.35

There are probably some that got updated that I do not have.

Very interesting. Thank you for posting this.

No, LBA got Mac installer apparently at the conference. Other sites report LBA 1 available at launch.

I could swear yesterday when I pressed New & Updated button it took me to the LBA and I saw red icon along the Mac installer.

ok, thx.

I edited my prev post
Okay, downloaded the new Windows installers and will try them out.

I re-installed Redneck Rampage first, they cleaned up the folders in the Start Menu and the game folder too. It's nice that it installs to C:\GOG Games by default now.

They changed the look of their Graphic overlay tool, changed the game icons, updated DOSBox to 0.74, got rid of those START CLIENT and START NETWORK shortcuts and replaced it with a Multiplayer shortcut. When double clicked a menu pops up now asking if you want to start either one.

I'll try the other Interplay titles that got updated.
