I actually intended to do my first giveaway once a hit the 100 rep mark. Since I don't check that little counter regularly, it seems I have missed that (probably by a few days...), but that won't stop me.

I also intended to make a very intricate riddle, but I never got around to designing that either (as you might have guessed by now - I'm neither the fastest nor the most hard-working man alive).

So instead I'm gonna do something I personally haven't seen now: A musical competition.
And since I love Game of Thrones and the 3rd Season just started, I thought to myself, what would be better to celebrate it than to have a bunch of guys (and gals?) sing "The Rains of Castamere"?

The great sing is, it's a rather short and easy song, so most people should be able to sing it.

I'll even give you some resources:
1.) The version played in the credits of Season 2 Episode 9, by the National, with the lyrics in the description:

2.) A site where you can easily record the song (of course, every other site that's as easily accessible - like youtube, for example - is also valid): Vocaroo

3.) For fairness sake, I recorded a version of the song myself: Click.

If you want to, you can also use background tracks or play an instrument yourself, just remember that the important part is still the singing.

The first and second place* each get a 9.99$ (or less) game of his/her choosing. I don't know yet how I will choose the winning song. Maybe one will stand out completely different from the rest, maybe I will let the rest of the board somehow vote on the songs, or maybe I will just throw everything into random.org - I'm sort of a tyrant that way.

The good news is, there are no other requirements to join this giveaway, except this one:
All entries must be posted in this thread until April 8th 2013, 0:00 GMT.

Have fun!

EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but don't concern yourself to much with quality. As my version shows, you can be far from perfect to enter here.

UPDATE: The poll is now up!
You can vote until April 15th, 0:00 GMT.

You're probably not gonna get many entries :P +1 regardless.

Might be.
But that would just mean higher chances for everybody else, so don't be shy pals. ;)

Not in, but thanks and +rep.
Very few of us know what any of us actually look like so I suppose some less than honest fun could be had here. :P

Meh, I think Goggers are a trustworthy bunch. Also, most sites feature the date of the upload, and if someone is really that pathetic to fake his entry, so be it. I neither have the time nor the will to care for that. ;)
Good luck with this +1 for the give away I will spare you my fantastic singing voice and abstain
To save us all from the horror of my singing, I present the vocaloid version instead.
You really, really, really do NOT want to hear me sing - even my kid would say "Mommy, PLEASE don't sing!" - and he's my kid! ;-)

Plus one for creativity though!

Oh and I love GoT!

Ay, c'mon guys, don't be dull! Just remember: there will be a winner even if there's at least one entry, so it doesn't matter how (supposedly) bad you are if you're the only one who participates. ;)

And trust me: Most people aren't as terrible singers as they think they are themselves. Most of the time it's not the lack of talent, but the assumed embarrassment that keeps people from singing. I'm not very good either, but that doesn't keep me from singing my favorite songs now and then.

So lemme ask - how many rock concerts have you attended in your life? Did you want the rest of your hearing lost to the sound of my voice? ;-p

Enough to know what it sounds like when drunken people who can neither hit a tone nor know the lyrics to a song still blurt the tune directly in my ear. There's nothing that can shock me. ;D

I have actually been on the stage at several concerts singing and playing and getting paid for it too I still wouldn't do this;)

That makes me a sad panda! :(
But may I ask why?

(I also accidentally marked your post as spam. I wanted to reply, but was in a position that, while being very comfy, was not very ergonomic, so I accidentally hit the down-rep button instead, and when I wanted to up-rep it instead, I of course hit the "report as spam" button.
So if a mod reads this: Sorry for the extra work. I guess I should go to sleep now and drink less next time...)

ahh well that happens. Its because its very self concious to sing and record it without music and a band I sing at home in the shower but would hate to share that with everyone. It is very different to stand on a stage with a band and psyke yourself up and stuff like that same in a studio. Others will feel differently I think it is individual if you like it or not.
