jonwil: So does anyone know what the rights story is with the following games?
Sentinel Worlds: Future Magic (My guess is that EA owns the rights unless somehow Karl Butier has some rights in the games, either way its a great game that I wish was on GoG).
The Bards Tale Construction Set (my memories of this game feature an Interplay logo on the title screen but I have no idea if the rights exist with Interplay, with whoever bought the carcass of Interplay when they went bust a while back or with whoever published games for Interplay back then)
Strife (not a clue who owns the rights to this one although its DOOM engine based so ZeniMax may have some rights there since they own the copyright to that through their ownership of ID)
Tron 2.0 (Disney owns the rights to the Tron universe AND have a relationship with GOG so that would probably be covered. The game uses the LithTech engine so I dont know if that would be an obstacle though)
Neuromancer (William Gibson owns the rights to the book but I haven't heard that he is particularly protective when it comes to the rights to his properties, maybe if the publisher is willing, it might be possible to get Gibson to agree as well)
I'd love to see both Sentinel Worlds and Hard Nova both here myself.

tfishell: Does anyone know if Turnipslayerr still works at GOG? I'm having a hell of a time trying to contact him all of a sudden, and the bluetexts won't respond to my questions on the matter either. :-P

If nobody wants the info I may have to pass it along to Night Dive, or somebody who will at least respond and make a re-release happen. :P
AFAIK he still does (though I read that Guillaume "TheFrenchMonk" Rambourg left recently). Are you trying his direct email or the 'welovedevs' email address?

Direct email, but I also messaged him via the PM system. No luck in either case. Judas wouldn't even respond to my message. :P
Hello. I look for the game rights on a game called "Hazard". It was released in 1999 in Europe by:
Virgin Interactive.
The cover also reads "Wizard Soft" and "SKC"
Only little information can be found right now and I can't post any links (sad enough)

This was a Korean action RPG. You can find out what happened to the publisher here:
"In 1999, SKC spun off the game business, integrating Namil Soft back into the new company3 and forming the new independent company Wizard Soft4. An US subsidiary was established in California the same year, but never amounted to much of anything5. The Korean mother company continued to develop and publish games (last through a partnership with Ubisoft in August 2004) until it was bought out by Letek Communication (whose CEO Im Daehui was also leading Wizard Soft since March) in late 20046 and the two companies fusioned into SNH ("Software & Hardware") on March 17th, 20057."

Interesting I wonder if there would be any chance to get this game on gog though. I mean it wasnt an outstanding game but still quite fun to play.
SCPM, what was the url that you gave when we spoke in chat in looking up a company's information? the chat got lost.
Hello!

I have three games that I really want to see on GOG.com (and more importantly, see the source code to be accessible in two of those cases).

For one of those three I managed to find the current rights holder.
It is not sold anymore. It is available on STEAM though, but the sales are dead.

Does anyone have any idea how to obtain those rights?
Should I just go there, try to speak to the manager (it's a small company developing a totally different game that however uses the name of the old one in its title, that's why they bought the rights) and ask how much it would be?

In fact, if the price wouldn't be too high or if it is possible to only buy distribution and access to source rights I'd do this myself and sell my old car for that.

It would be crucial to get access to the source code / development tools because there has been very successful attempts of modding but game implementation didn't work in the end for assets.

I would say go for it! If they don't want to sell it, maybe they will at least consider releasing the old game (and the upcoming one too) on GOG?

You'd probably receive better information (than in this thread) asking somebody like https://www.reddit.com/user/VideoGameAttorney

Personally, I'd suggest contacting the people and starting a conversation with them, but don't seem "too eager" so you don't get "taken to the cleaners". ;)

Hey, thanks for your hints! Will check out the reddit :)

I really really want this game. It's in my opinion the most beautiful game of the past decade and it just *has* to be modded.
Anyone wanna venture a guess who owns Laser Squad from '92?

Is there any chance of contacting Julian Gollop? He might have an idea.

Might be some meaningful information here:
