timppu: I have the retail version of the game, I just have never played it. Maybe some day... or not.
Play it, if you haven't (use ScummVM). It's a great game!

Nice....almost makes me wanna dust it off and play it again(got a huge backlog atm, though).....I wonder if anyone ever read all those walls in the "museum"? :)

(Also an aside: Copyright/etc is atrociously long/terrible for the commons....imo ANY old game/etc made 10+ years back that hasn't been sold should be released to the commons or at least for the poorest of us....it would be a nice thing and add so much to the collective culture we share & possibly keep some games from slipping into the digital ether)

Culture is not restricted by it already ;) I.e. if someone wants to get it, they will find it.

Would be great to get it on GOG though regardless.

I'm surprised it isn't here already. The rights situation can't possibly be that complicated. Trespasser and Steven Spielberg's Director's Chair would also make for a welcome addition to the catalogue.

Society and collective culture still does suffer, though, as much content has been lost due to master files/etc being lost or corrupted over time.

Also add to that how some content is likely to fade into the digital ether(console game updates and some DLC when the servers go down on some systems, for example) and the fact that some are either worried about the legalities of such methods of obtaining games/etc or are morally opposed(and won't/cannot obtain such in those ways due to such), and you can see how the current situation is somewhat less than desirable in a number of ways.

Agreed

(BTW did you see my question on the neverhood "museum" texts? ;))

Nice...it seems easier to read/smaller size when typed like that, but iirc in game it is a whole nother story.....I wonder if back when it came out if anyone read it all the way through much. :)

Maybe, but maybe it's infamous enough for GOG to think selling it would be profitable (and maybe it would be, I dunno).

I'd buy it just to see how it is(also this IS about JP: Trespasser, right?). :)

Have you played it? I only played the demo and it was... well... it had its flaws.

At the same time, I have to appreciate it for aiming too high and not hitting their mark. It was developed by a bunch of ex-Looking Glass guys and you can clearly tell they had nothing less than the immersive sim to end all immersive sims in mind. Huge open levels, physics, a living breathing ecosystem - all ultimately hampered by the limitations of the time. And the fucked up controls finally did it in.

With all those "Remastered Editions" coming out every other day, this would be one that would actually be worthwhile. Polish up the graphics some (none of the awful pixellation for far away objects) and get rid of that stupid arm, add a "Classic Edition" for the purists and this one would be ripe for reevaluation.
