rampancy: Edit: So, Close Combat 2, 3, and 4 all work in WINE (tested on the latest available 3.01 engine that I could find at the Porting Team, running in Wineskin on OS X 10.7.5 and 10.11.6), but with some caveats...
avatar
peterb12: Could you turn up the detail on where you found this engine - maybe include a link? The most recent engine I could find in Wineskin is WS9Wine2.22, and when I launch CC after adjusting the registry in this engine, it crashes immediately.
Two people on the Porting Team forums have been packaging and releasing more up-to-date versions of WINE for use with Wineskin:

gurqn: http://portingteam.com/topic/10055-wine-staging-csmt-builds-engines-available/page__st__570#entry107232

ScoPezz: http://portingteam.com/topic/10896-wineskin-engine-repository/

As well, look around on the Custom Wine Builds subforum for posts by NRG, who has been packaging and releasing the latest stable version of WINE for Wineskin, as well as releasing custom packaged engines based on the CrossOver WINE code.

As for your own problems with Close Combat 2, what version of macOS are you using? I'm on 10.11.6 now, and my latest attempt to reinstall the game using the latest default WINE version on the Wineskin repository (2.22) works fine. The game also works under 3.01, which is the latest devel version available on gurqn's MEGA page. Did you also set ddr=gdi in Winetricks? (As mentioned on the CC2 Wine AppDB page.)

Also, it's worth going back to the game's registry keys to make sure that the intro movie and all cutscenes are disabled (launched = 0, and PlayVideos = 00000000)

ciemnogrodzianin: Game: Vaporum
Version: GOG v. 16890 PL
Installer MD5:
- 6b8f6d59ffd3c99655d2ccfdfdca0de1 setup_vaporum_patch_4_(16890).exe
- ce3db3902d8bbf06c3bfb3fba92bd847 setup_vaporum_patch_4_(16890)-1.bin
What's with the installer version? Based on the installer file name I would guess it's a multilingual installer?

ciemnogrodzianin: No libraries needed, but at some point I've added DX11 - no noticable changes after that.
Exactly what was the point of adding DX11? Also, define adding DX11.

Also, is the Linux version live yet? Thanks.

Holy crap, I'm so buying that once it arrives (it seems it hasn't been released on Steam yet either). My guess is it will hit on Monday.
Game: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest

Distro: Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 64-bit
Kernel version: 4.13.0-36
Graphics card: AMD RX 480 8GB
Graphics driver & version: Open source, with Mesa 17.3.2 from Padoka's stable Mesa PPA
Wine version(s) tested: Wine 3.0 (with CSMT enabled)

Install notes: If you have an Nvidia GPU you need to add this to the registry: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=44390 and set this environment variable when running the game: __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700
If you're using the open graphics drivers you only need to set this environment variable when running the game: MESA_EXTENSION_MAX_YEAR=2002
On some systems there may be mouse control issues rendering the game unplayable - if this happens then it will also be necessary to set MouseWarpOverride set to "force".
Start the game from: MOHAA.exe, moh_spearhead.exe and moh_breakthrough.exe for the main game & Spearhead and Breakthrough expansions respectively.
How well does it run: Perfect
Details: Have only played through the beginning of the game + expansions so far but all seems well with the settings/tweaks detailed above, with no sign of any issues.

For MacOS check out the earlier report posted by rampancy

Wine wrapper
I have put together a Linux Wine wrapper for this game. For more information, see the release thread in the game's forum: https://www.gog.com/forum/medal_of_honor_series/mohaa_for_linux

Has anyone here tried Bombshell in Wine?

That video is with Wine 1.9.2 and judging by the Window title it seems the game does (or did) have a DX9 renderer. However the don't take my word for it. They may have replaced the 32bit with a 64 one, although I suspect the DX9 renderer will still be there.
Hey, that does seem promising :) Now I just need to figure out if the game is worth my money and time.. I was slightly hyped for this before it released (but waited for a deep sale of course), but now I see that reviews are mostlynegative. Hmm..

Regarding installer - it was version numbered 16890 downloaded in December AFAIR, Galaxy-free one. Now I can see there are 2 installers - no. 17151 - Galaxy and Classic. It's multilingual, you're right. "PL" was only to inform that I've played polish version, however it's text-only translation, so it may be of no importance, indeed.

Regarding DX11 - it means I've tried to add d3dx11. My understanding of DX usage in Wine is... well, not very impressive.

Regarding Linux port - correct, it's coming and it's great news, because it's great game! (:

Not really a test, but I tried it on Arch running the latest wine-devel build. It took forever to load and it locked desktop resolution to a lower one than I use.

Since the problem with the resolution persisted after reboot and required manual intervention, I removed the prefix and didn't test further.

I see. Well, that makes up my mind then. I won't be grabbing it this time.

Maybe wine-staging or some winetricks could help, but I didn't test.
Also, I couldn't find any report of successfully running Bombshell on wine.
Has anyone tried Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat with a newer Wine version? Is the 256-color palette still a problem?

d3dx11 what exactly? Is this via winetricks, POL or what have you?\

PlayOnLinux.
Has anyone here gotten Tropico 5 working? It launches into the main menu just fine, but it crashes as soon as I start a campaign, and sound doesn't work.
