Themken: Wine 3.0 released :-)
Nice, but not a big change for those who were already using development releases :)

I played through Oxenfree with wine-staging 2.21, and it ran great in a clean prefix. Didn't try a controller though.

Why didn't you play the native Linux version of Oxenfree? ;-)

I haven't been keeping up, but is Wine 3.0 just an incremental change from the 2.X series, as opposed to the 2.0.x series? From what I've seen on the release notes, it looks pretty significant.

It is an incremental update from 2.x versions, and it's a major update from 2.0.x ones in turn.

Release notes list differences with 2.0.x.

Is Xanadu Next still broken (and if so, in the same way), or has it been fixed in the newest version?

Of course. Done.
I'm sorry, I had seen your previous answer, but forgot to do that. I'm often on mobile, which makes such editions quite complicated on GOG forum.

still broken
So I went into synaptic package manager, removed wine, wine mono, wine gecko, winetricks. I then re-installed wine with the copy paste command lines on wine hq. There a better way to update?

Did you not see this page on WineHQ.org? https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu

No worries, and I thought that might be the case. Which is why I asked again. Thanks.

I'm not an expert, but I'd recommend installing PlayOnLinux - it gives you great control over Wine versions you use (you can have multiple of them at once and switch them easily). It also allows you to easily add components/libraries.
