te_lanus: Game: Worms 2
(…)
NotesNeeds Wine 1.6.2. As no newer Wines seems to be able to run this. There is a solution in the AppDB that I followed that makes the game playable.
Worms 2 works flawlessly here with the latest stable WINE version (1.8.2), including background music, using the dedicated ./play.it script.
As a bonus, it allows you to build a package with fixed movies, without the out-of-sync bug of the ones coming with the GOG installer.

I sent fixed movies files to GOG team quite a while ago (must be more than one full year now) so they can build a new installer without the out-of-sync bug, any news on this?

I tried the script on Fridaybut it gave me the same result as what I get from running it without using the script. Thanx for the idea of using the latest stable release (1.8.3) and it works on it :D updated my post with the new info :D

the out of sync movies is something I don't notice as my retail disc I had, also contained the out-of-sync movies.

Gydion: Thanks. I don't suppose I could interest you in bug 33856 or even a regression test o__O?
avatar
te_lanus: Tried it with 1.9.13 this morning and it fails,
I was attempting to suggest you post your results in that bug report. Is the crash with 1.9.13 similar to this:
X Error of failed request: GLXBadWindow
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 32 (X_GLXDestroyWindow)
Serial number of failed request: 706
Current serial number in output stream: 713
That's actually a known regression with a pending patch that's being discussed. If it's a different crash it may be another regression vs 1.8.x series. In which case I still feel it would be worth commenting in the bug report.

I just gave it another try with WINE 1.9.12, and it is still working for me.

I’m using the open-source 'amdgpu' driver on a Radeon R9 380X, so maybe your bug is tied to your graphic driver. Have you tried running the game with the open-source 'nouveau' driver instead of the non-free 'nvidia' one?
I hope its ok to put multiple games in one post as they run on the same system.
Edit: I splitted it up.

Unreal Tournament 2004

AppDB entry

Installed through PlayOnLinux, set Wine version to 1.9.11 manually. Its a clean 32 bit prefix with no Winetricks overrides.
The Wine version which PlayOnLinux choose by default was giveing me stuttery sound, 1.9.11 fixes that.
It has performance issues, it stutters at times, still playable, but not as enjoyable.

- I tested only the first half of the first half mission of Nexus.
I appreciate the sentiment but it's actually a lot more convienient for the thread's maintainer -- as well as anyone else searching for WINE compatibility information -- to split them up into separate posts.

No problem, ill just split it up then.

Thanks, but it's far better to have them as one post per game. Preferred formatting is like post #79 (single entry). They all run in a clean prefix with no winetricks or overrides?
I would also include that all the Unreal games have a native client, except Unreal II. E.G. UT2k4: and [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/unreal_series/unreal_tournament_2004_easy_setup_for_linux/post1]this, UT99: , <i>Unreal Gold</i>: [url=http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Unreal]PCGamingWiki.

You need to wait 10 minutes to bypass the shit forum auto-merge, or until someone else makes a post.

Game: Unreal Gold
Installer MD5: e19566e9bbda7029efcc179b8dd39d61 setup_unreal_gold_2.0.0.6.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&amp;iId=89
CodeWeavers link: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/unreal

Distro: Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64bit
Kernel version: 3.19.0-58
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 367.27
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.13 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.1.0

Install notes: After installing the game, install the Oldunreal 227i patch (http://www.oldunreal.com/oldunrealpatches.html - note this also includes a native Linux version, see below).
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "Unreal.exe"
Use the OpenGL renderer + OpenAL audio.
How well does it run: Almost perfect
Details: The game modifies the display brightness and fails to reset it on exiting; to reset it back to normal just open NVIDIA X Server Settings (have not tested to see if this problem also occurs on systems with AMD GPUs). Aside from that it appears to run perfectly, although I've only played for a short while. Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled.

Native Linux port
The 227i patch includes Linux binaries for the game, so you don't need to run it through Wine (although you do still need to use Wine for the initial install). Once installed you can then move the Unreal directory out of the Wine prefix and run it natively using UnrealLinux.bin

You will probably need to install some libraries to get it working - on my system I found that I needed the libalut and libfmod libraries. These (along with some other libraries that may be needed) are also bundled with patch 227i and can be found in the archive "lin_convenience_libs.tar.bz2" in the Help directory - just extract the libraries you need to the System directory.

Details: As with Unreal, this game modifies the display brightness and fails to reset it on exiting; to reset it back to normal just open NVIDIA X Server Settings (have not tested to see if this problem also occurs on systems with AMD GPUs). Also the game occasionally crashes on start, like XIII does. Aside from that it appears to run perfectly, although I've only played for a short while. Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled.

Native Linux port
There is a native Linux port of Unreal Tournament. Follow the details & instructions provided here to obtain and install it: http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Unreal_Tournament

Using the native port some further configuration may be needed. I also needed to install osspd-pulseaudio to get sound working.
