andrewmclaughlin: GOG said that they were going to release more titles from the wing commander series. What a load of B.S.

This is what they said and i quote :

Unforgiveable !!
Say what? They made this announcement on Aug 25th, the day they released DK2 and WC1/2, after first releasing DK1 and WC:P to kick off the EA titles. This announcement is not related to today's release (NOX).

Check your chronology.

Then why is Dungeon Keeper 1 and Wing Commander Privateer not among the rest of the titles. I thought they were resleased on gog a long time ago. I don't see what they have to do with this particular promotion.

So i go on gog the other day and i see DK2 and WC 1+2 starting of this list. I read the caption above it. What was i supposed to think ? Did anyone else out there make this mistake or am i just an idiot ? wait... don't answer that

I know i'm probobly wrong but..... damn.

No you just had a reading comprehension failure rather than reading the "-" as meaning "these new games" you read it as "more from these series"...

Yeah ok. Wishful thinking I guess. I think i'll go back and edit my comment as there was no wrong doing on the part of gog.
I must admit I am quite disappointed with these bunch of EA games. I prefer old school FPS games and it has felt like an age since the last good fps was released on GOG. All that seems to be getting released are RPGs. When can we expect a good action game on GOG? I would love to see the Medal of Honor series or Freedom Fighters be released as part of this EA relationship.

aye.....im going to take a break from here, once they fully confirm that there will be no road rash or sim city or nfs games from the ea classics list they intend to release :\

I would love one of the classic SimCity games...
How many thousand RPG games has to be released before one kick ass FPS game like Clive Barker's Undying gets released. This is depressing GOG. RPG after RPG after RPG after RPG. And no classic FPS release. Severely disappointed :( !

What´s RPG on Dungeon Keeper, Magic Carpet or Wing Commander? Dungeon Keeper is strategy, Wing Commander is shooting space simulation, Magic Carpet is shooting magic simulation... Crusader another shooting game.
Who owns Westwood's Blade Runner? It was released by Virgin, but who knows. perhaps EA got it when they got Westwood.

tall_serb: If one of those upcoming games isn't at least System Shock 1 or 2 I will never buy another GOG game again...

anjohl: Good policy. For too long, these developers have gotten away with selling you their B nd C list titles on the expectation that this will make these greedy publishers realize the money to be made by releasing the AAA title you actually want.

So you buy the B and C level titles, keeping up your end of the "bargain", and..System Shock never comes.
I would LOVE to see SS 1 & 2 Get Released... System Shock 1 is an Easy Matter. But System Shock 2 isn't that simple. In fact THAT project would be one HELL of a cluster fuck to manage. That's because would require an ENTIRELY NEW ENGINE/Source Port. Because it Runs off the Dark Engine Which is pretty much COMPLETELY INCOMPATIBLE with not only modern Operating Systems but Computers as well. Its incompatible with Made SPECIFICALLY for Windows ME & Single Core Processors. It fundamentally incompatible with & Windows XP, Vista, & 7 & it won't function with multicore processors. To get it to function in XP you have to patch it, Windows, & for the CPU. I don't I have yet to hear of anyone getting it running in Vista, & 7, not to mention 64bit architecture... EVEN if they do that that leaves one OTHER major hurdle Licensing. While EA owns System Shockl they don't own the engine it runs on. The Dark Engine itself is owned by Eidos... GOD I WOULD LOVE A SOURCE PORT OF THE DARK ENGINE! That way I could play Thief 1 2 along with System Shock 2 without problems...

I've actually got System Shock 2 running on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with a quad core processor. There is now an all in one patch that basically makes SS2 compatible with any operating system. I know because I've got it running on XP and Vista x64 using only the patch. I do agree though that the licensing issues are a total cluster fuck.
