After thinking about it, there were several 'games' I played on the television prior to the PC and monitor I now own. The first TV game I ever played was "pong", the tiny console with the dials that moved the paddles. However, it was owned by a neighbor so many of the neighborhood kids spent time there after school.

The second system I played, which my dad bought, was the Magnavox Odyssey II which he probably regretted after getting the game Take the Money and Run I have to say that this system was better than Atari and before Atari. :)

Later in life, after being introduced to PCs and other machines, I still managed to own several gaming consoles. I think I finally settled down with a PC system, since I can control the hardware games require.

What was the first game you ever played?
I think either Robocop or Outlaws. Those are my first gaming memories at least, followed closely by ROTT.
OH SHIT!
That's a tough one.

Probably the original Asteroids at an arcade not on a console.

I played what we called "TV games" long before there were arcades, but when arcades popped up at the movie theaters, I played Pac Man, and Asteroids. The vector graphics were classic.
tetris on the gameboy in 94 or 95

I think Tetris was probably one of the best games I ever played. In fact, I played it so long one time that I 'vizualized' pieces of the puzzle falling into any open space within my line of sight. I even worked on coding a clone of the game for a different computer platform.

It was an awesome game!
The very first would have been the Downhill Skiing game on this machine. Must have been 1985.

First "home" video game was Pitfall 2 on the Atari 2600 of my aunt. Must have been 1986 or 1987. That was East Germany, mind you, western computer hardware was incredibly valuable and rare.

My first own computer was a C116 coming with a ton of games. The only original was Mayhem. That was 1988.

I had a friend in the neighborhood who had an Atari console, I spent a lot of weekends over at his house. :) I still have one in the garage I don't use these days, probably because I don't have a TV now with RGB inputs, but my wife bought me a joystick which apparently has a lot of games in it.

Atari pretty much 'dozed' the way for consoles.
