My point is consistency. Without being conservative you want to keep a certain level of consistency in a series. Bethesda innovated on a lot of levels such as better third party views, added back door exits to dungeons, added dragons, etc.

Now with Blizzard, the goal was to keep millions of paying customers by trying to please everyone which gives you a dumbed down game with an incoherent lore. The mechanics of the game and the lore and the goals and everything has just been slowly dumbed down.

Yup. And everything in Starcraft is basically Warhammer 40k. Blizzard are not really unique and creative geniuses. They make games people want to play though, which is all that matters in the end I suppose.

The thieves guild and dark brotherhood questlines are so much better than the others it's kind of ridiculous.

What? Are you saying the Fighters Guild questline in Oblivion where you get to murder a whole village (omg 3 people!) because your character is forced to drink the Kool-Aid in a cutscene wasn't the greatest achievement in storytelling ever?

There's no way that the entirety of the DB questline, or the stealing of a priceless artifact out of the Imperial Library is anywhere near as cool as that.

DB questline is usually watered down Hitman.

I like the mages guild where you kill the most powerful necromancer in existence who seemed to ascend to godhood at the end of Daggerfall in one hit.
