So back in 2006 or so, the classic game "Another World" got a special 15th Anniversary re-release. I have downloaded the demo from the official site (http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/) and purchased an unlock key which made it the full version. So far so good.

Yesterday, 8 years later, I felt like replaying the game. Naturally I still have the original unlock information from my prchase, so I installed the demo from the original executable but lo and behold: the "unlock" button is nowhere to be found. When I click "Get full version" it sends me to a defunct website.

I have tried to redownload the latest version of the demo from the site, but still no unlock button. The contact e'mail listed is also invalid. The get full version button now sends me here: http://www.dotemu.com/fr/telecharger-jeu/183/another-world-15th-anniversary-edition

So I have no idea whom I can contact with this. Having to pirate a game I'm supposed to legally own feels just "great".
its not available on dot emu either
tried contacting eric cahi directly yet ? http://www.anotherworld.fr/contact.htm

it might be a long shot but you do have proof of purchase and the key
I have. The mail listed (aw.contact@anotherworld.fr) returns a "delivery failed" notification.
I now sent them a message via facebook on https://www.facebook.com/Another.World.OFFICIAL

Hopefully it'll help.

His Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/eric.chahi. Couldn't find anything better, so I hope you use Facebook.

Heh, ninjaed by you. And the official game page may indeed be a better bet.

well thats all you can do
other then buying the game again on here

but at least here it will still work in 15 years http://www.gog.com/game/another_world_20th_anniversary_edition
I know this doesn't resolve your problem but the Gog version has been on the Insomnia Sale....if you can catch it at the right time, you could bag yourself a bargain.
Ask him for a GoG-key, so you don't have to stalk him once every few years to play the game you bought.
Pigdog - sorry, but fuck that - I'm not paying for a game I'm already supposed to legally own.

then all you can do is contact eric chahi

cause this is how it works not just with video games but with almost all media formats sans books
planned obsolence and when things march on
you either buy again or get left behind

just ask star trek and star wars fans with vhs laser disc dvd and blu rays
Well, not exactly Snowkatt. If I own a StarWars VHS tape I can still pull out my old VCR and watch the film with it. I may not get the digital restoration, the extras or whatever, but I can still use the product I legally own.

But that's the point of DRM. You don't own the game. You just purchased the license to use it, which can be revoked. Or can be lost if the publisher goes out of business. Or if the IP is sold to someone else. Or any other reason. You paid a licence fee, yes. But in the DRM world that doesn't mean that you have any permanent rights.

If you have a backup and not all your copies are wasted - no backup with DRM.
LifthrasilI - This very attitude from the game companies is the reason I see nothing inherently wrong with piracy. In fact, piracy was the only thing that made me be able to play the game yesterday.

sooner or later there wil be no more vhs or beta decks anymore
There are people still playing their Atari 2600 or NES games on their original machines :-)

I own a decent library of PS1 and PS2 games I still play on my slim PS2.
Not being able to play something because your machine broke is hardly the same as having all the files and the PC to use them but being locked out of your game anyway.
