Unfortunately, the same can't be said for our Western "leaders".

The time for alarmism and swift and decisive action would have been over a month ago. Even the dumbest asshole should realise that when a country quarantines cities of tens of millions of people. But the politicians didn't. Neither did the media, which was instead busy brainwashing you into thinking that closing your borders to prevent further spread is rayciss.

It's too late now. Continued inaction will ensure that this thing will spread far and wide.

WHO has still not listed COVID-19 as a pandemic... even though it met their own definition long ago.

If you wait for the WHO you will get very little timely information.

Indeed, the reaction by the media ("It's just the flu...") and by politicians in many Western countries has been appalling.
Still a bizarre amount of complacency in Germany, apparently many think Italy is some 3rd world country and that the same won't happen here...when there are already around 1000 confirmed cases in Germany, with several clusters throughout the country.

The reason the WHO steps around the word pandemic are so called "pandemic bonds" issued by the world bank, several hundred million dollars waiting to be used in case of a pandemic, maturing in July 2020. If there is a pandemic all the money is lost and investors get nothing back.
