Don't forget to smile sometimes, with all the problems going on around!

Now smile! :D

maul_inc: At least the police now got "Unlimited powah!!!!" sort of. New laws were passed today so the police and health care can act with force like they do in China. Don't think that will happen except for maybe they have to pounce on some of these hoarding clowns that ruins it for everyone.
I am guessing the cops and leaders of many nations that want such are rubbing their hands with glee atm.....people will do almost anything and give them almost anything when afraid. :\
A problem that I would like to highlight...

In California we are starting to see a growing number of first-responders having to be quarantined. Specifically we are seeing a lot of deputies (Co. Sheriff's Dept). This is bringing up concerns about lack of available law enforcement.

Now just a personal note...

A coronavirus case was just reported down the street. What a day.

DadJoke007: Trump bans all travel from Europe, now we'll just have to wait for EU/Europe to take some action as well. Who am I kidding, if any action is eventually taken at some point it will be too little and too late.
Am assuming that by now the UK is removed from the ban exemption, given that we're probably now very close to a few thousands cases and very likely officials are/will be fairly economical with the truth when it comes to actual numbers.

TBH, I couldn't understand the exemption in the first place given that nothing substantial -if anything- has been done when it comes to prevention.

GameRager: One roll lasts 3 weeks? What, are you alone and use 1 square per bathroom break? o.0
A little fun fact first: I never thought that I'd EVER discuss on an internet forum how I wipe my butt xP

Well... Yes, I live alone. I use toilet paper with four layers (or whatever it is called in English). As I said, I never really counted how much toilet paper I use, but I'm a pretty "healthy pooper". It's not too soft and everything comes out as one solid piece, with one clean "press". There's not a lot to wipe off so I'm pretty much done wiping with a generous six pieces of paper (folded, not crumpled to a huge ball).

real.geizterfahr: ps. A friend of me was out of toilet paper and wanted to buy some yesterday. He's wiping his butt wth paper towels now *lol*

GameRager: Sell him some in exchange for it's weight in gold. *evil smile*

(No, don't do that....I was just joking :))
Dude's pretty fat and I don't want to rip him off. Half his weight in gold and he's got a deal.

edit: dammit, I misread your post. I read "Sell him some in exchange for HIS weight in gold" *lol*

A bit more serious though: Spain just decided to shut down all ports for ALL cruise liners and for passenger ships that come from Italy. Since I live on Balearic Islands (Mediterranean Sea) I think that's a good thing. This time of the year we have a few cruise liners doing tours over one week through the Mediterranean Sea - including Italy! This week we got two ships with thousands of passengers that came from Italy. I mean... We're on an island here. When the number of infected people gets too high, our hospitals will collaps pretty quickly. We'd have to transport the infected to the mainland to treat them.

This year will be very tough here. We don't have any industry on Balearic Islands and live of tourism. Last season ended early becuse Thomas Cook went bankrupt. This season won't even start - and will be over before things calm down. Our economy will stop working and the crime rate will explode (it always goes up the longer the off-season goes). Spain will suffer a major crisis in 2020.

If life has taught me anything, it's that weird/unexpected things can happen/be discussed at any given moment....that is(imo) one of the joys of life. :)

No wonder you don't use much, then.....you use the good stuff....over here many of us use 1 ply(1 layer) TP as it's cheaper(and sometimes 2 ply if we can afford it).

Lol, yeah....I meant the weight of the TP in gold.

I imagine if someone got very ill and needed immediate care you guys have at least a doctor/someone else to stabilize/help such people until they can be moved?

If not then you have my sympathies.

well in my country they passed that new law with an expiration date that cannot be changed by parliament. So no problem really.

That sounds more reasonable.....well just as long as they don't try to make up excuses to try and renew it(like we did with the patriot act).

Of course. We have hospitals and they're pretty good, too. They're even some of the best ones. It's just that they lack the capacity to take care for everyone if something like COVID would break out. Life on an island is... different sometimes.

Just as an example: A few weeks ago you couldn't buy any meat or fruits and vegetables (anything that's fresh) because there was a storm for two or three days. Everything we have here comes by ship and when ships can't get to the island, things become scarce really quick.

I'm in a lucky position. I'm running a few websites and don't depend on tourism that much. I've started a new business that partly depends on tourism, but I still have the possibility to minimize the work I put into it and do more for my other projects. But the majority of the people here will suffer. Everyone was happy because after a looooong winter (early end of season last year) the season was already knocking on the door. In fact, we already had many (for this time of year) tourists here. Now we have a higher number of cancelations than bookings. The Island lost 1 1/4 seasons in a row now (assuming that this year will be a total failure, which is quite realistic). And as I said: Tourism is basically all we have here. I guess on Balearic Islands (and some other regions in Spain) COVID will manage to kill some people without infecting them :( This'll be as bad for Spain as the last financial crisis (which led to unemployment rates of 30% and many people losing their homes).

Huanan(South China) Seafood Market officially declared as the origin of the #Covid_19 #coronavirus completely demolished. It was shut down & cleaned up as early as Jan 1, 19 days BEFORE the #CCP told the public & world that there was a problem. Original “crime scene” destroyed.
Senator Tom Cotton was demanding everything China had directly back in January, but they responded with "careful, because maybe the US army brought it here", and had apparently nothing concrete to show...

And in other more positive news:
As expected, Pornhub offers free Premium access to all Italian residents and donates all of March profits.

Stack up on both toilet paper AND lotion and you have everything you need :D

dr.schliemann: Exact.
I have seen the images of the empty cities in China a month ago but, believe me, watching the images is completely different than living the same reality in person. Aside from the worriment caused by the virus, and by the economical problems of the present and mainly for the future, Italians are living in a surreal reality, a fucking nightmare.

victorchopin: Best of luck to you and your famiglia. I mean it.
Thank you very much. You are very kind. ;-)
Here is an interesting video about the situation in Italy today: empty cities in the whole country.
We have been on the governments "blueprint" for emergencies for last two weeks or so. people have slowly... then suddenly decided toilet paper was most important thing in the world.Im sure some have seen videos hahahaha.
TP. sanitizer almost impossible to find as well as masks. Pasta. Rice. in shortage atm. Tinned Cornbeef (yes dammit!!), spam selling out fast
flour etc...... how many people could survive more than 2-3 weeks if needing to isolate?. Im more worried about my mum and also work in the future although im fulltime staff (have 2 weeks leave and 18 sick leave if needed :P)

Govt dumbasses probably last ones in the world to ban mass gatherings although F1 has just be cancelled....
