They are controlled, like pretty much everything you put in your mouth. A few years back, there was a nationwide scandal about some restaurant storing their vegetables in the wrong place or something. You can buy all kinds of supplementary pills in grocery stores, but I'd recommend the pharmacy ones (just because they seem to be more concerned about people's health).
I have 10 µg vitamin D pills from a pharmacy, micrograms, because eating 10 milligrams of vitamin D could probably give you heart problems or something.

I know that "it's a tall order"/"a bit much to believe in" - and I am not even sure of if I myself believe in this or not, but the guy actually writes :
