I'm sorry but I'm gonna need a definition here. :P

OK, I'm going to try to do my best to explain it without getting political and getting the whole thread locked... and then we'll have to move to that "Happy" thread and bitch over there.

Load shedding = having a national electricity supplier who is the only allowed electricity supplier, who then can't meet demand and asks its customers to stop using its product... and because electricity is kinda useful, we kinda have to keep using it... so the supplier prevents a shutdown of our entire national power grid by cutting off power to various parts of the national grid... as in, "load shedding".

Yup, I sometimes wonder how much time we still have left :P Was waiting at a red traffic light this morning when all of a sudden load shedding kicked in for the region. Took the cars in front of me a few moments to realise what was happening :)

Is that the same place as the car alarm scandal saga? Quite eventful workplace.

Lol can't believe someone remembered that XD Yes, the same place, and this crazy dude was in the bushes about 5m from where that infernal car was parked. So somewhat of a noisy area at times then :P

Symphony8: Plus Judge Ginsburg should be dropping off the perch any day now.
She's probably already dead. I think they're just keeping her look mobile with strings and a 12v battery. If you looked under that black robe you'd see all the wires and servo motors.

Interesting, without context I would have assumed "load shedding" refers to masturbation or something of the sort.

Sounds like some sub-genre in porn. The english word for bukkake, perhaps?

Hey, stop the load shedding shaming!

I suppose some might have an alternative definition that it's like a national electricity supplier taking a dump on the economy of the country it's supposed to be servicing.

I'm confused...on the one hand "no kink shaming" is a "progressive" value nowadays.
On the other hand, ejaculating on women's bodies (iirc that's what this disgusting bukkake refers to...sick Japanese!) seems quite misogynist, like something a horrible sexist like Duke Nukem would approve of.
Very hard to resolve this conundrum!

I feel your pain.
But you can at least take some consolation in the fact that in future you might not be alone with your problem...Germany now intends to get rid of both nuclear and coal power, which probably won't be good for energy security. There are already occasional shortages when power is switched off for high-energy industries.

Fortunately I heard good news today that there's going to be an investigation into what is really going on with a large number of our power stations suddenly not working, and regardless of whether it's due to incompetence or sabotage, the necessary remedial steps will be taken. It won't necessarily be sorted out quickly, but at least a line has now been drawn in the sand.

Coal and nuclear power plants are a bit of a touchy subject this side of the world. We can't even finish building our new coal power stations due to astronomical cost overruns, so thank goodness we managed to avoid entering into new contracts to build nuclear power plants in the future. All we would have succeeded in doing is guaranteeing indebtitude for our future generations.

South Africa is generally pretty sunny, and fairly gusty in some places too, so solar and wind power really would be suited to us: https://mg.co.za/article/2017-05-26-00-wind-energy-has-much-more-potential-than-expected.
