Well folks, It took me a while to make this but I did it

I went over the entire GOG catalogue, carefully looking at each title and I picked only the 5 star rated titles on GOG for your pleasure, of course it was extremely hard to leave out titles like Earthworm Jim and BLOOD but I stayed true to my word

5 Star rated games as voted by the GOG community

http://www.gog.com/en/mix/the_best_gog_can_offer_5_star_rated_games_only

These are games that I think no one can go wrong with, if you are a newcomer to the site (or a GOG veteran) these are Must-haves

I don't see new GOGmix'es that often so how about we share our new GOGmix'es here with other members? :)
Very nice work there, kudos for the effort. This should be served in schools as well, to teach the new generation what quality games are all about :)

Nice of you to go over the entire GOG catalogue, but there's an easy way of doing it:

And it took me about 5 seconds :D

I have my doubts about that, I don't think the rating system is that meaningful. A game that is loved by many and hated by a few might get a worse rating than a game that is loved only by a few and completely disregarded and ignored by the rest.

Just picking out the first example, Alone in the Dark is a game that many GOG members have fond memories of, a game that was influential and important for gaming history, a classic. But is it truly a must-have for any newcomer to the site? Will it give the average player of today more fun than any of the games with 4 stars only? I seriously doubt it.

AitD was given a total of 5 stars by 324 users while more than three times as much voted for Earthworm Jim and five times as much for Blood, both of which "only" got 4 1/2 stars. And then we have games like Planescape: Torment with 5 stars from over 4.000 players. How does that compare to the 324 voters of AitD, for example?

NICE XD
Kinda makes you wanna go through the 5-star rated games & give them all 1 star just to mess with his GogMix, doesn't it?

Nah, just kidding. ;-)

it also doesnt help that most of these games havent had promos or i've never seen promos for them

They're hugely popular games, so GOG don't need to slap on a promo price to sell them; that just wouldn't make good business sense! Same reason we are unlikely to see a sale on the D&D games.

Go on GOG, prove me wrong!

I don't really agree with this as some of those games will easily not appeal to everyone(Alone in the Dark, Master of Orion, and Realms of the Haunting from my library come to mind, I love them but can see how many wouldn't especially newcomers) .

Unless you have absolutely no interest in the genre (i.e. Total Annihilation for me).

i do agree with most of what you said, but keep in mind that the average person that comes to a site called Good Old Games is not the same as the "average player of today"

I guess I myself am kind of a different player today than I was back then and not so sure I would still enjoy ALL of the classics I enjoyed a decade ago, especially in comparison with the really timeless ones here, that's probably what made me use these words. But generally you're right, of course. :)
I really appreciate all of your comments people

I also have another GOGmix that I made a while ago

http://www.gog.com/en/mix/big_guns_big_action_big_fun_gogmix

At the moment these are the only 2 Mixes that I own but I will update them constantly when needed and keep an eye on them
