Don't worry we're all with you on this one. DRM free is simply essential when we are giving money for a product that hasn't even begun production. He kind of implies that the DRM debate slowed down the kickstarter. Maybe it did, but that can only be a good thing in the long run, as game developers see that getting rid of DRM will increase support and sales, rather than decrease.

Try PMing them and see if they can think of a solution. I don't have a credit card either, I used my debit card. Maybe that's an option for you?
If it did slow it down, the only people not pledging would have been people who cared about it being DRM-free, so if it hadn't happened they wouldn't have had those backers.

I think this is the best thing about KS, you actually have a say about the product and not just talking to a corporate wall.

Other than that, I'm kinda bummed about the slowdown... where are all the people that played Tex 14-18 years ago? Did they grow up and stop playing games? That's kinda sad...

My older cousin was the one who introduced me to UAKM in 1994 (or 1995? Can't really remember). He's played all the Tex games but TPD. Too bad he's not backing this, or any other projects. Like you said, some people just move out of gaming as they age, and I can't say I'm surprised, especially in a place like Singapore, where freeing up your weekends to watch some TV, catch up on news and take your family out is more a privilege and less an entitlement.

Agreed. On top of that, they are asking for money in advance... not necessarily money for an existing product. They have to pitch their idea and literally win your money over. I've seen a few folks that feel like they are entitled to your money just because they have a legacy. Thankfully, kickstarter doesn't work this way.

I don't envy them in trying to keep everyone happy... but they do have to produce something worth investing in... and going DRM free was the way to get SOME investors ;)

For the folks without a CC... prepaid debits work just fine with amazon payments. Its how I'm going to back them after this weekend.

The slowdown is expected. There's always a big start followed by a slow trickle as people discover the project.

It is 40% funded with 28 days to go. I don't think we have to worry about this one failing. Even if it's borderline, the backers for this are so passionate they will all increase their pledge to push it over the line.

When Kicktraq says you're not going to make it, you know you're in trouble (given Kicktraq's tendency to exaggerate positively).

Remember that out of that 450,000$ 5% goes to Amazon and 5% goes to Kickstarter themselves, after that some of it goes for the physical goodies so it ends up being much LESS for the actual product...

They will have budgeted for that though. Or at least they should have, they'd be idiots not to. >.>

My parents bought me Pandora Directive for Christmas in 1996 after seeing the review in a PC magazine. First game they ever bought me and became a defining experience in my gaming 'career.' It is the game that made me sign up on GOG.

I'm getting some money next month and will chip in $100. Would pledge more, but unfortunately still a student. Would definitely contemplate $1000 if I had a job. One more reason to get crackin' with those apps again eh.
