Can anyone explain to me why everyone wants to see daggerfall here? It's already been released on dosbox for free. I am pretty sure GOG wouldn't add anything to the game. If anything all the people here should be support the engineXL project.

We have been over this many times

We want Arena and Daggerfall here because:

- It would add more value to the Free library of GOG games
- More people would play them and they would get more attention
- GOG'ified versions means simple installation and quickly jumping into playing
- Extra goodies for free
- The first 2 free ES games being here for free would mean a complete Elder Scrolls collection when other ES games are released here, this would give people a bigger incentive to buy Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim from GOG

Kezardin: I used to play Skyrim until I took an arrow... ah, screw it - aerial Morrowind
That's one of the things I really love about this game, it's customizability and the ability to play however you want

Oblivion and Skyrim went so, so much downhill in terms of this
The best game ever made (arguably of course). It is my absolute favorite game out of all the great games I've played from my past and present collections.

have you tried ancestral ghost's daggerfall download? he packaged it alot like gog does. You could install it and not even know it used dosbox....I'll look for the link if you want

personally I didn't find it too hard at all to set up but I know its available and i suppose it is easier and simpler.

Arena and Daggerfall would be fantastic additions, as well as Morrowind or Oblivion.

Indeed. They would all fall under the original initials of the site, imo. All are games that are good and old. (I think Oblivion would qualify at this point as old.)

If a deal was made I'd imagine ID games would be involved too as they are the same parent company now. But for whatever reasons, it seems a deal can't be made with Bethesda.

keeveek: WE have to add Morrowind?

Ask Bethesda why Morrowind isn't on GOG.com yet.

Stevedog13: It's because Todd Howard signed a blood pack with Gabe Newell. The future of Bethesda is tied to the Future of Steam. Skyrim was the first major non-Valve title to use the Steam Workshop, look for future Bethesda titles to more deeply entwine itself in Steam. We have about as much a chance of seeing an Elder Scrolls game here as we would seeing the Half-Life games on GOG.
You just made me cry.

Well, it's time to don the pirate hat and sail the seven seas of the Internet. It's been a long time, but I still got it.

Has there ever been an official statement why Zenimax refuses to work together with GoG and bring back this classic?
I played morrowind when it came out and it was one of the most boring things I've ever played, impressive for the size of that open world but it bored me out off my mind. I haven't touched an elder scrolls game since.

Does it need to be officially stated?

"Bring back"? It is still available on Steam.

I wouldn't be fully happy with only one game from the series appear on GOG, I would also want Oblivion, and ultimately Skyrim, appear here too. Sooner or later. But maybe I'll have to live with the current situation.

I don't like the idea presented in some other discussions that everything is fine as long as GOG gets only the early parts of a series, or the original versions, as if the newer games in the series, or the remakes, don't matter to GOG users. For example the discussion about the Homeworld series: it appears many say "As long as the originals come to GOG, everything is fine", while e.g. Steam gets enhanced remakes, _and_ the originals for free on top of the remake purchase.

A bit similar situation with the Serious Sam games, I hope the remakes, as well as the newer games in the SS series, eventually arrive to GOG too.

Fortunately at least the Duke3D and Shadow Warrior remakes are apparently finding their way to GOG, so some good news at least...

Aeeehm---simply the fact that Zenimax is following a "go to steam or die"-Tactic?

I agree, though I think in the case of Homeworld everyone expects the remakes/new game to be shitty since they will be developed by Gearbox.
