So I asked this on the Steam forums and was railed because I mentioned CS: GO and never got an answer... I got about 30 different nicknames however and found out what people do do other people's moms... but no answer...

So I got a new laptop (finally) that has 2gb of dedicated video ram, it's an Acer Aspire V with an Nvidia GeForce 840m. I checked "can you run it" to see if I could run Insurgency and it said no... it also said I couldn't run Counter Strike GO... which I run at maximum... I also run Battlefield 3 on high settings and vsynch and get 59fps...

I'm thinking I can actually run Insurgency but I don't want to waste 16.99 on a game I'll never be able to play... so do any of you know if I can or not...

EDIT: I was graciously gifted this game by a fellow GOGGER (is that what we're called?) a few days ago and the game runs amazingly! I guess I was looking at the screenshots and thought it looked really high quality but as it turns out it's not (which isn't bad) and you don't need a powerful computer to play a game for 4 seconds than spectate a game for 5 minutes haha (it was a joke about it's difficulty!)

Of course you could run that game. I am not sure if at maximum specs but at least it could run at medium at max frame rate.

If i were you I will concern more in CPU speed as well internet connection since the game use Source Engine; not a very demanding one.

the game is harder than CS:GO it can be said , it dose be updated reguarly , is mainly a online game multiplayer (if your looking for a offline game sorry) , i would wait for it to go onsale to pick it up , i luckly got a copy of a friend , as said it not that demanding i run it on intel hd 4000 mobile .
Keep in mind that all that "Can You Run It" effectively does is scan for your computer specs and then compare them to the official minimum and recommended specifications.

Needless to say, those specifications have always been more of a guideline than a rule due to the sheer amount of hardware specs that are out there as well as the level of optimisation different games undergo. There have been examples of games that have worked even with below minimum specs...and plenty more of games that didn't work properly even with specs that far exceeded the recommended ones.

Insurgency? Isn't that the game that everyone and his dog got for almost nothing from Humble Bundle rather recently? If so I'm sure you will be able to get it for free from a fellow GOGer if you ask nicely (that GOGer isn't me, I was offered the game by someone but turned it down).

Yeah, that one. I will offer him one of my copies but already give away the 3 of them. I am sure too someone out there will have a spare copy.

Thanks for the help, I do know that CNYRI isn't really for laptops but it said that I failed hard lol, but I guess thinking about it I really should be able to run it easily haha. Thanks again.

Those keys were valid for a timed period only, I doubt they can still be activated.

the_atm: snip
You should have no problem running the game. It's far less demanding than either BF3 or CS:GO.
