Matewis: This is pretty representative of how I remember the pc version, except for the lack of other racers of course : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHDd-rdEzcg

ariaspi: I remember all the tweaking needed to properly tune the car - was frustrating and rewarding at the same time. For me, Porsche (2000) was the best NFS, followed by Most Wanted (2005) and Underground 2 (2004). Hot Pursuit (2010) was pretty entertaining too.
I wasn't sure if the game had tuning options since it's been so long since I've played it. I vaguely remember switching between rain tires and slicks, but that might've been a different game?

Of the NFS titles I've played I would also rank them that way :) Though I'd be tempted to switch Most Wanted and Porsche. It's the lack of a cockpit cam in the former that gives Porsche the edge.

Commansos 2
"The Bridge of the River Kwai"

That's the end cut scene after you blow up the bridge.

I believe that's because yoshino's original post wasn't a reply to your post. Instead the reply was edited in afterwards, which is why you didn't get a notification. The post originally had something about a PS1 game in that yoshino was playing (case of mistaken thread identity I think).
Replies edited in after the original post doesn't trigger the notification unfortunately.

Yes, it had, I'd say, plenty of them. It was less arcadey than the other NFS games. However, I've never played ProStreet (2007), Shift (2009) and Shift 2: Unleashed (2011), which I believe are more focused on simulation than on arcade, so they might be more realistic than Porsche Unleashed/2000.

Ah oh yes thanks, it's starting to come back to me now :)

If you enjoyed setting up the cars, you'll enjoy doing it inside a racing sim such as:

Grand Prix Legends: http://www.gplworld.org/setups-replays.html

NR2003: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUFrFm72hmc

GTR 2: http://www.nogripracing.com/files/screens/2014/11/full/115214.jpg

Setup galore! :)

Thank you for the links and recommendations. I can't say I'm too fond of setting up cars, probably NFS Porsche and NFS Underground 2 are the only ones where I enjoyed it, because I liked those games overall very much.

Apart from NFS series, I've never played much other racing games. With Colin McRae Rally 2 I had much fun, but that's mostly because I was playing it with some buddies over LAN. Now, I guess, I like more the open world kind of racing games, not the closed circuit ones, which is why I liked so much NFS Underground 2.

I'm more into simracing rather than arcade racing games, but i enjoyed FlatOut & 4x4 Evolution very much? The former is available here and i found it to be much fun and the latter isn't available on GOG (yet) but i suggest you search for a retail copy since it's a great offroad game with lots of car customization (many parts to buy and upgrade your cars etc) and very decent physics for that type of game. Also, take a look at Screamer 4x4 that is already here and is a very good game. ;)
Playing a hidden gem I found out today.

I know those games, unfortunately they are not my cup of tea. Maybe if I would have played them 10 years ago or so, but now... I don't know.

I'm not much into racing games, probably that's why I sticked only with the NFS series. The only racing game I've played in the last 5 years or so, is NFS The Run (2011), which was terrible. :D

Playing games like Mafia and Far Cry is enough for me to fill my crave for driving in video games these days. :)
