Matewis: Ah I remember those lava caverns. Very close to the end I believe, unless you play the expansions as well. Very cool game, though I think I prefer the 2nd one a little over it.
All of the Infinity Engine games are great. :) IWD2 has the advantage of a newer ruleset. Before the 3rd edition introduced feats the development of non-caster characters was very simple. Feats expand it a lot. As for story, it's quality is comparable in my opinion.

Honestly, I've forgotten most of the story after all these years. I just remember that I loved the locations in IWD2 more (disregarding the blasted ice temple), at least up to where I got at some sort of monastery.

It's technically still an ongoing gaming project of mine, to finish all of the infinity engine games :) Only IWD2 and BG2 remains, but I've yet to find the courage and time to start the lengthy BG2 journey.

I've finished BG2 once more this year. The playthrough with all side quests took me almost a month. I was playing 3-4 hours every day. But as always it was worth it! :) I encourage you to try and you'll literally sink into the game. Especially if you've never finished it before. Personally I consider BG2 to be the best cRPG in history.

I'm sure I'll sink right in, but the problem is that I'm already sunk into other things ;) eg dont starve above

Phew that was far too close for comfort. I used up both surface spawn stones and got extremely close to dying while trying to retrieve my walking cane next to a spider nest. This world has been a bit of a disaster - only got mactusk's tusk on the fourth try, and a damned moleworm stole my old bell used to summon big foot out of my base. Hot tip: when that happens the bell is rung, which promptly resulted in bigfoot stamping through my base leveling half my structures!
The only reasonable thing left to do was to abandon the world and start anew. Luckily I managed to reconstruct the wooden thing (aka world reset-er) pretty quickly, and before the onset of my first summer.

Check out that starting inventory for the new world, it's a ginormous headstart:
- some boards, gold, coal, pig skins and cut stone to jumpstart construction
- a spider nest egg and extra silk
- honeycombs for early beeboxes that I can leave for the first winter
- 14 hounds teeth to get my toothtraps going early on
- 2x tentacle spikes!
- 10 gears so I don't have to waste time early on scouring the map to build my first fridge
- mac tusk's hat and a beefalo hat right from the start
- and a pan flute for emergencies!
Now I just need to leave these at a safe spot and take my time to carefully pick out a good base location. It's going to feel weird to be able to play Don't Starve with so much already taken care of!

"Would you kindly go attack some big hulking killer robots with bees and lightning and then escort some needle wielding kids around? Thanks Boyo"
[Spoilers in screenshots] (for a 12-year old game =P)
Experiment, Tool, Savior... aka Bioshock (Remastered) finished

The good ending is still one of my favorites in games. :)

It's a decent adventure game, but some of that English translation is odd, stilted, and quite awkward. In some cases it really seems like someone was trying to do literal translations rather than using much needed paraphrases, which just ends up sounding weird.

I also like the "mwahahaha" evil outcome of the bad ending as well......very bond-villain-esque.

(Also the best B2 ending is also very touching and heartwarming.....haven't tried the others yet, though, or the DLC)
Unlike Terraria, I've got an awkward relationship with Starbound: if I stop playing Starbound for a couple of months, I have a difficult time getting right back into the game without feeling all lost, so I need to start playing from the beginning all over again or I go nuts. With Terraria, I feel like I can pick up the game wherever I left off. Is it just me?

Decided to replay Starbound again to check out the Bounty Hunter Update!

Right, here we go. Kinda looking forward to finishing it at this point, but I know I'm going to hate myself later on if I abandon it now :P

I have this game in my library, but never played it. :) What's the difficulty level like?

There are 4 difficulty levels, affecting things like how many aliens you have to deal with at a UFO site, how quickly you have to deal with more advanced aliens etc. On the easiest level it is very forgiving and on the hardest difficulty it's pretty insane. Which is fitting as the latter difficulty level is called 'insane' :) But regardless, you can also save anytime if you don't pick ironman mode, even during ground battles.

Apart from that how difficult it is will depend on how comfortable you are with games in the genre. It's a lot like the original X-Com: UFO Defense game, only better I'd say. If you want to check it out just be sure to install the Community Edition mod for some much needed quality-of-life improvements.
