GameRager: I actually played through the first deck last night(With the texture/music/cutscene improvements). I have to say, it's just as I remember it. Good times. :)

Aver: Unfortunately, I have to wait for my paycheck, but I'm pretty sure that it's as good as I remember. It's like with Deus Ex - it never gets old.
Yup. :)

When I finish my current run i'm probably going to run a new install with the gameplay changing mods(Which add stuff like throwable grenades/hackable cameras/etc) to experience the game in a whole new way. I still wish the modding community would create more SP episodes, though. (I have tried a few on occasion, I just wish there were more. Hopefully the new patch to SS2 will encourage the modding community a bit. :)...)
Over Riven, will pass Ultima Underworld soon

Potzato: assumptions
Because of the high number of 513 games, neither an arithmetic nor a geometric series with ratio 2 seems realistic. An arithmetic series would mean that the bestselling game was only sold 1.25 times as often as the 100th bestselling game. A geometric series with factor 1/2 would mean that the 5 bestselling games account for over 96% of the total number of games sold. I'd suggest to try either a geometric series with a ratio close to 1 (some quick calculations suggest that the ratio should be a bit less than 1.025) or some more complicated approximation. I doubt that either of the two simplest models gives a very good approximation.

Oh yes I totaly agree, I only started to speculate out of frustration (I want to knoooow !). Given the almost non existant information we have, my hypothesis are reaaaaally weak for starters.
In all cases, we shall agree that such an approximation is not fitted for the top games sold and the least ones (statistical rule if you see what I mean).
Reading you guys in this thread points out to me the inadequacies of my statistical analysis background. ;__;

Maybe you should just give us the bloody number :).
If you can't officialy divulge that, just say something like: "I'm not sure about it, but I heard some coleagues talking and I remember something like....30k or something. But who the hell knows...."
We are happy with that..........for now.

I can confirm for you that the number of sales of System Shock 2 remains in the boundary of real numbers.

That certainly makes the situation less complex!

OK, I think it's stalled out. Still impressive that it managed to go as high as it did, and I imagine it's become an example for other holdout publishers of just how well their games can do.
There's two milestones yet:

1.- Next month, with fresh money from paycheck.
2.- First promo with a 50 or 60% off.

I hope it did well.
Sanitarium was on sale and in one day it rose 4 places in the Best selling chart. Perhaps many people bought it (I know I did) or perhaps the gap between games isn't that big....meaning that SS2 wasn't sold in tens of thousands of copies. There is still time, until the end of the year it will probably get a price reduction, and it will be in top 10 for sure, even top 5.

First promo could easily push it into top 10. Heck, something's got to dethrone Baldur's Gate 2, it may as well be the biggest example of "put your money where your mouth is" this site has ever seen.
