It is called a computer game, not video game.
And it's true successor was the very good Syndicate Wars, Ms. AI Person.

God damn that looks awesome. Don't care what people say.
I don't like the stylized, almost Tron-like look of some of the scenes.
I'm still sitting on the fence for this one, let just hope the story (it really looked like they're going for some kind of story there) will be interesting :D

If I remember correctly in the original syndicate, you're not really playing as the 'good corporation', you're expanding because you need to expand market to sell more drugs, taxing the hell out of your dominion so you can buy more enhancements... good god the original game has corrupted me xD
"Video game"?

"16-bit"?

They have no fucking clue what they're talking about, do they?
I never got into the original Syndicate, though I utterly loved Syndicate Wars. Go figure! :P

That said, I have great hopes for this new game, even though it's not like the classics. Even C&C has already pumped out a fun (if limited) FPS, so it's no great deal.

Syndicate always had a universe that begged for a more complex "on the ground" story and I think that this one comes in a good moment (much like Warhammer 40K begged for a game where we can play as a walking tank space marine :D ).

I DO think EA could and should be working with Paradox, making The Cartel a true Syndicate sequel for the purists too. :)

And according to the video original Syndicate was a shooter.

Yeah, they don't.
If EA had it's way they would turn Angry Birds into a first person shooter...

Baaaahahaha thanks for the giggle ^_^
I always worry when a beloved strategy game makes the transition to FPS.
Looks neat, too bad it's EA and will require Origin. :/

No, it's a video game. It was not released exclusively on computers. It was also released on the SNES, MegaDrive, 3DO and Jaguar for example.

Unlike Steam, Origin is an optional client.

Optional while playing you mean. (exclusion BF3 I think and possibly TOR), not optional for install/patches/DLC etc probably here on forth for their new games.

I haven't seen any game on Origin yet that requires Origin to install anything. Not even patches.
