I followed the "sort indie games by price" advice by someone here and saw that Puzzle Dimension is 0.62€ right now (shows 2.50€ as regular price, maybe a pricing mistake?). It got pretty good reviews and looks like it could be fun.

Hawk52: The general rule is to not buy anything recent or major unless it's a flash or a daily. Then on the last day if the game has not been in a sale, you pick it up then.

I'm currently eying a few purchases, but for the most part they aren't (or shouldn't) get any cheaper due to their already low prices or obscurity. Silverfall and the Edmund McMillen bundle are good examples.
Indeed, Don't forget that, if a game doesn't go on a daily deal in this sale, it might still go on christmas. Don't pick up anything out of the dailies for less than 75% off, even on the last day.
I have a question: If I buy The Witcher on Steam, can I also redeem it here - http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup ?

yup. All you need to do is input your GOG info along with the cd-key from steam and volia! Witcher 2 attatched to your account. With the witcher 1, you need to print out the e-mail, scan it, send them the image and then wait a few days (this also works for Witcher 2) for it to show in your account.

Well spotted, I got addicted to Puzzle Quest on 360, so I bought this in the hope it's more of the same.
Steam Silverfall + expansion €3.74.
Bought KOTOR II and Beyond Divinity for a grand total of £4.41

Kind of glad I've got KOTOR II again after breaking my old disc. I was going to get Beyond Divinity here but, it was £2.67 and I've already got Divine Divinity and the Dragon Knight Saga on Steam, might as well make the complete collection there. I'm OCD like that.

Might get Torchlight 2 for £11 if it's worth it.

I bought it at launch and at full price for USD$19.99 and I've already clocked 110 hours.
grrr chews nails, resist RESIST, just seen a game on my wishlist 50% off - grrr lmao, i hate sales :D - i bet Christmas sale is worse as well lol
Made my first purchase. Picked up KOTOR 2. Not a huge fan of the original game but eh.

I'm eying several other games such as Silverfall, Basement Collection, They Bleed Pixels, and Mark of the Ninja but there's no rush on those. Might as well see what future deals will hold.
A few (seriously) cheap recommendations. All prices were accurate, in America, at the time I wrote this, but of course things can change without warning, or be more expensive in other countries.

Toki Tori is a cute little puzzle game that's currently going for fifty cents.

MacGuffin's curse is a lot of fun in small doses, and is going for $1.74

I haven't played Ghost Master, but it has OK reviews on GOG; for seventy-four cents it's a small risk. Also in the "Haven't played this but it's going for very cheap" category, Ankh 2 for a dollar

If you like adventure games and have somehow never picked up Broken Sword, it's going for a dollar. Broken Sword 2 and 3 are going for $1.20 each The first three games packaged as "The Broken Sword Trilogy" are $2.00

Zeno Clash for a dollar has been mentioned.

Home for a dollar; it's short as heck, but I recommend it at that price certainly, if you're at all into horror.

P1na: It does get annoying to have to be checking their website constantly to keep up with the flash sales, though... it would be nice to have rss or some other kind of notification if a game on your wishlist goes on a special sale. But they probably consider it better force you to keep checking so you get tempted to buy more games.

Export: I know it's not quite as convenient, but you could just set an alarm on your watch/phone/computer for the time the current deals expire. There's also this site, but it doesn't seem to list flash sales.
This is a good site: http://isthereanydeal.com/

PenutBrittle: Guys guys guys guys.

Get Intrusion 2. It does Metal Slug better than Metal Slug does Metal Slug.

You get to ride a dire wolf, just because you can. It also has some of the best boss battles I've ever seen.

So yeah, that's the real steal for today, I think.
Is this game as hard as the Contra games?

Not really, I didn't find it hard. More or less medium difficulty. You can take multiple hits, which is the key difference from the older shooters.
