It does get annoying to have to be checking their website constantly to keep up with the flash sales, though... it would be nice to have rss or some other kind of notification if a game on your wishlist goes on a special sale. But they probably consider it better force you to keep checking so you get tempted to buy more games.

I know it's not quite as convenient, but you could just set an alarm on your watch/phone/computer for the time the current deals expire. There's also this site, but it doesn't seem to list flash sales.

I don't care that much. As I mentioned before, by now I have built up my catalogue of games not in GOG, so I'm no expecting to buy on these sales. I think the only games left on my wishlist (now that KOTOR 2 is gone) are Call of Chtulu, Kane & Lynch, Mass effect, Brothers in arms and the capcom games. If I get to see them on sale, cool. If not, no big deal.

You do that. My phone just calls people and, if it feels like it, wakes me up in the mornings.

Some games only ever go on sale during this Black Friday sale (like Star Wars Clone Wars and Quake IV)...the prices for this years sale are not very good so far.

I would say to check steamprices.com to do a comparison of sales for the past two years.

I think X-Mas will have larger discounts however somethings on sale now won't be on sale during X-Mas at all.

Dammit, why did you remind me about Front Mission Evolved, I'm tracking too many games as it is. And why are you buying it now, you have until the 27th to see if it goes on a flash or daily sale.
Edit: Ack! And I forgot about Quake 4. And it's true, I recall last year skipping something on Black Friday, and there wasn't a better offer during the Winter sale.

I have the base game for Front Mission - just not the DLC and the DLC is already on sale (unless they plan to mark it down even further).

Well, you still have until the 27th. Generally, if the base game is on sale by a certain percent, all the DLC is on sale at that same percent. Just take a look at today's daily sales and flash sales, their DLC is marked down too by the same amount. I think it pays to wait.

The general rule is to not buy anything recent or major unless it's a flash or a daily. Then on the last day if the game has not been in a sale, you pick it up then.

I'm currently eying a few purchases, but for the most part they aren't (or shouldn't) get any cheaper due to their already low prices or obscurity. Silverfall and the Edmund McMillen bundle are good examples.

Skyrim is still prohibitively expensive, I'll pass this one more time. I'll wait till it drops to 75% hehe lol
