Azrael360: Many thanks for the giveaways! Although you posted them in the wrong thread (:P)
Here they go: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/steamgiftscom_gog_gift_club_v3_giveaways
Gah! Of course!

Moving them now...

Azrael360: Welcome to the club! ^_^. I sent a group invite through Steam ;)
(And don't forget to read the rules.)
Got it. Thanks!
Been wary about using multiple groups since not sure how that affects the giveaway, though I know based on our group rules that a giveaway that includes other groups isn't against the rules as per (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/steamgiftscom_gog_gift_club_v3/post861), but doesn't count towards the group win/loss ratio.

I was wondering though if our group user stats page (http://www.steamgifts.com/group/f2hXw/goggift/users) takes that into account or if it ignores whether any additional groups were part of a giveaway so long as the win or the gift came through our group. Does anyone know for certain?

Good question. I have talked about this with LiquidSnake and we don't have a confirmation if a multigroup giveaway is counted in the stats for each group yet, but right now I'm tracking a few multigroup giveaways to get an answer to this... But either way just like LiquidSnake said in that post, although our group allows this if giveaway creators prefer to do a giveaway for multiple groups, those giveaways are not counted as contributions to the group because outsiders of the group have access to them too. The stats page works as a reference to everybody, but when in doubt we can confirm (manually) by visiting the profile on SteamGifts for each member, as we have always have to do while checking members in the past, since SteamGifts can show the list of groups for each giveaway. Those multigroup giveaways will not be counted during the checks.

Also, as always has been with members who haven't followed the rules, members who have their numbers out of the allowed range will receive a warning first here on GOG, and this serves two purposes:

1. This checks activity in the GOG forums. If no reply is received after a few days (usually 5-7 days), this is considered that the member is not active here, as required, and will be banned.
2. Member will have to stop entering more giveaways until he/she normalize their numbers. If he/she keeps entering more giveaways after the warning, that is an insta-ban (as LiquidSnake said before).

EDIT: Answer updated here.

Thanks Azrael for confirming where we are at currently!

I can now answer to that definitively: The SG system is not as "dumb" as may looks and actually takes in consideration if a giveaway was made only for 1 group or if it was a multigroup giveaway. Depending of the number of groups involved after the winner has marked the gift as received, the giveaway creator gets an increase in "Gifts Sent" and "Value". But if it was only for 1 group, he/she get the 100% on the number of gifts involved added to the "Gifts Sent" stat (giveaway for 1 group with 1 gift, he/she gets "1" added to his stat), if 2 groups were involved, he/she will only get only the 50% on the number of gifts involved added to the "Gifts Sent" stat (giveaway for 2 groups with 1 gift, he/she gets 1 / 2 = "0.5" added to his stat), and so on...

( Number of Gifts / Number of Groups ) = Value added to "Gifts Sent" for the member in the Group Stats Page.

We can see this already in that stats page of any group, members with a number in Gifts Sent as "X.Y", "Y" a decimal number different from 0, for example: 10.3, 17.8, 25.1, etc... means that that user did at some point one or more multigroup giveaways.

In this group only integer numbers will be considered for giveaways only for this group, multigroup giveaways are excluded (won't count). In doubt, we can always check manually.

Since April 24th nothing has changed. If you have any question don't be afraid to ask ;)

Well, what happens if you make a giveaway before the 5 win limit?
Will another giveaway have to be made after the 5 win limit is reached?

Currently there's no "5 win limit". I think you misunderstood the Rule #10: "All users must make at least one giveaway within the first 12 months after joining the group or must make one giveaway when they've won for a 5th time. Whatever happens first."

This means that new members who joined the group but had not made a giveaway, have to make at least 1 giveaway after winning 5 times or have passed 1 year since they joined without making a giveaway. I will edit this to make it more clear. But since we can't edit the first post of this thread (I was told that long ago darknath decided to leave GOG forever and don't want to come back, not even to edit that post), I can only edit this in the April 24th announcement and in the main page for the group on Steam. But it is always recommended to check the main page for the group on Steam or newer posts in this thread for newer information.

Since this will continue to be a source of confusion for new readers and potential new members, I suggest that we abandon this thread and you make a new one to replace it.

I suggested that early this year, but I was told that since this thread and the thread for giveaways were made by the same person, we would have to make two new threads (unfortunately they'are linked together), but since these are already well known by everybody...

So we contacted GOG Support if we could switch "ownership" of the main post but this isn't possible, but JudasIscariot (a GOG moderator) helped us by editing the main post by darknath updating the very old rules from years ago with the rules we currently had early this year. Also, as a way to "bother less" we asked if he could add the final line to link to the main group page on Steam where everything is always updated:

"For the latest information, rules and more about the group, don't forget to visit its page on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/GOGGIFT"

We don't want to bother any more the GOG moderators, but if its really necessary and it wouldn't trouble the members, I guess this can be done.
