GameRager: I don't think there is a perfect definition of this. But I do know that cutting some members out due to them being post shy isn't the best way to go about things, in my humble opinion.
-----------------------------------------
So discrimination is ok when done in an online contest but not ok in the real world? Because that is what it seems to look like if someone made such limits on a contest.

I agree it's the contest holder's right to do so, but it doesn't make it right or fair.
avatar
Mohdar: So you are seeing here a discrimination? If someone REALLY wants, he can get high rep LEGALLY without any dummy accounts and rating own posts. In my opinion it is fair to those who are GIVING SOMETHING TO COMMUNITY. Nothing stops you to join this group in legitimate way.
And about "so discrimination is ok when done in an online contest but not ok in the real world? " - i just realized that i'm beign discriminated, cause i can't drive a bus full of people :( Bus driver's license is a discrimination!
I didn't mean it was discrimination, just that it could be seen as such by some. Also it just leads to more crap to deal with as we've seen with the people abusing rep to get into various contests and downrating those that spoke against them.

gyokzoli: Please consider raising the rep prerequisite to 50 or to even 100.
I agree, 100 rep and 6 months register should be fine

Aningan: I never said that involved would automatically equal good.
I just say that an uninvolved member is not a good member. He or she can be a good person, or a good GOG customer, but not a good member of the community.
avatar
GameRager: But this still doesn't answer why one should have to be more active than x amount to be considered a part of a community......even if they post very little doesn't it mean they've participated sometimes & are members of the community by definition?
I consider them members(more like customers) of GOG. There are people, here for 2 years, and with less than 20 rep. That means that they posted less than once per month (or they posted offensive crap and got down voted). I would not consider someone like this a member of the community.
Let's take this discussion here.

But how do you know all of them are as you describe? And once we start picking and choosing who is and isn't a true member of the community where does it end? Maybe only those who give gifts are community members, or those we consider friends/etc.

In the beginning people just gave to give and see someone have a smile on their face. Now people are restricting who can win more and more, and getting more suspicious of others who enter or who want to enter. Is this better than it was before?

I will, I was just here to enter the contests mainly. Have a good one.

Forgot my info: Steam name same as here: Gamerager(there are two on steam so be sure to get the right one)

UPDATE:

I put the invites on hold for now...

everyone until now who applied will be added, but no one from now until further notice that we sorted the abusing problem out

I'll just have to assume this was posted on purpose, the coincidence is simply too remarkable :D (still funny, though)

edit: Alright, Ubivis explained... a pity that the situational humor has been "defused" ;)
