tAnt0: Wasn't expecting the 50% off on Borderlands 2 GOTY so soon after the release. Well at least I finally got all the dlc's for it until the next headhunter pack comes along.
avatar
nijuu: it doesn't have all the dlc tho?
No, but I got the rest of them (except skins) separately after I got GOTY.

Killigangog: Steam seems to promote only the well-known games with additional deals. Do you expect more obsucre games like Aarklash Legacy or Universe at War to make it to the frontpage?
avatar
overread: Steam has put old things onto daily deal or flash deals - however Universe at War is very old by now.

Still like any Steam sale best wait till the last day to make sure and then anything on sale that hasn't had a daily or flash isn't going to get one.
The problem i have with way they do their sales is, only X number of games are put onto Flash/Dailys. Hardly any of the older games (well known names aside) are ever put onto Dailys or Flash sales. You known its a given they will just repeat games at least 3 times...

I got a couple of Pinball FX Packs for dirt cheap with this sale. Of course the Humble Bundle recently featured it with pay what you want and you got a boat load of content for $6 USD or more.
New Flash sales

F1 2013 34.99 (-50%)
Cities in Motion 2 4.99 (-75%)
Sniper 2 Ghost Warrior 7.49 (-75%)
Legend of Grimrock 2.99 (-80%)

Leroux: Incidentally I played it for a bit tonight, only the beginning, but so far I'm mostly scared of the game getting frustrating, not scary. I noticed you can't save your game manually unless you quit, and it's only one slot per player. Can you even die? Physically or just from losing sanity? And what will happen if you do, are there checkpoints, and what progress will you lose? Or is it part of the horror that I'm not supposed to know? ;)
You can die but you never loose much, if any progress. Your told at the menu screen not to worry about saving (it distracts from the experience) and I think they managed to hold up their end of the bargain. I didn't die much so I can't be sure.
I did quite to save once or twice, didn't matter that much.

Like I said I don't think you die if you loose to much sanity. Your character just falls on the floor for bit as if he was tired out. (Daniel's a bit of a wuss if you ask me. I get running from monsters but I for one often stand in dark rooms without loosing any sanity).

marsrunner: .Holidays and what not, but for $3.99 its kinda hard to ignore. It would have to be pretty bad to not be worth $3.99.
I loved Outlast, and that had zero combat, just run for your life!
I'd still recommend trying out the demo. It should only take twenty minutes (I tried out the demo for Call of Juarez: Gunslinger last night. Loved it so much I bought it straight after, for £4 ^^)
But if you're that pressed for time I'd say go for it. Sounds like it's right up your alley.

Yes, but if you thought there were monsters about and you felt hands grabbing at you, you might lose a wee bit of sanity as opposed to standing there knowing monsters don't exist. But more importantly, why do you *often* stand in dark rooms? Seems a rather curious thing to do often.

But here's the problem with that. until later on in the game Daniel doesn't know there are monsters out there. All he knows is a "Shadow" is after him, and he doesn't know what a "Shadow" is. He doesn't know any of this because he has amnesia XD But he Looses sanity when in dark rooms right from the word go. Even before he finds the note to himself explaining about the Shadow.

As for the later part the key word here is not "often" but "without". When I say I often I mean never (Classic British understatement) I never loose sanity when standing, sitting or laying down in a dark room.
This sale isn't hugely exciting so far. Which is usually the best Steam sale, this one or the Christmas sale?
avatar
IanM: this one or the Christmas sale?
Obviously Xmas
Bastards.. FC3 is 75% off, but Blood Dragon is -66%

Oh, I know. Was just having fun with the phrasing of the word often. Didn't come across the way I meant for it too I guess.
How's FC3 deluxe edition content? Are the missions any good? And do I [god forbid] get the 'exclusive' weapons at the beginning?
Monaco is totally worth it for $3 if you don't already have it.

Any opinions on Deadpool? Looking at it since it's only $10 right now.
Best off checking steam forums. Seems story and acting is top notch. Gameplay is so so and no replay value :/.

Whats everyone bought from the Steam sales?

ETS2

Still looking at :

Wolf Among Us
Monaco (on flash sale atm 2.99)
