The game installs fine but when you try to launch it you have to choose whether to install copy protection (Starforce in this case) on your computer. Like a fool, without doing a google search beforehand, I pressed Yes. Now Windows will not even start up. This has something to do with a conflict between Windows 7 and Starforce apparently - I really don't understand the stuff I'm reading on the net about it.
When ai attempt to boot up I get a Startup Repair screen and the computer says "Attempting repairs.....". This procedure takes about an hour, at the end of which I am informed that I have problems which cannot be automatically resolved. All I can do is send a report to Microsoft and click Finish to shut my machine down. It looks like it's iPed + headphones + music + booze for me for the foreseeable future then ..
So my computer is buggered - at least until I can find someone who might know how to resolve my issue. From what I've picked up on the internet this is not the fault of the publisher (SimBin, now defunct I think), nor of Starforce, nor of Microsoft. Apparently it's all my fault for trying to install a game without knowing might happen if I did .....
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if so what did you do ? I'm about as un-computery (to coin a word) as it's possible to be and will not be able to resolve this problem without outside help. What a total cock-up !
