I own the Escapists but have yet to play it beyond the tutorial. Are any of its DLCs must buy?

I have them all but I'd play the first one long enough to make sure you really love the game. You don't want to be stuck with a shitload of DLCs for a base game you can't stand.

Essentially its the most fan supported worms game. You have tons of maps: https://wmdb.org/maps

And the multiplayer base is there with people constantly playing it.

Even WMD is slowly shrinking.
