We're really happy we can present Pay What You Want for Interplay Games to you. For the first time ever, a big-name publisher who's been in the business for decades is offering its catalog at a pay-what-you-want price point, and for the next 14 days, you--our favorite gamers--will have a chance to buy Interplay games available on GOG.com for a price that cannot be beaten.

For any price you feel is fair, you will receive 8 games, including greats such as Conquest of the New World, Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business, or M.A.X. + M.A.X. 2. Paying more than the average community purchase will net a total of 20 games, with fantastic titles such as Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Freespace + Expansion, or Descent 3 and its expansion included. Finally, the top supporters who pay $34.99 or more, receive the whole Interplay catalog available on GOG.com--worth more than $190--including the three Fallout games, MDK and MDK 2, Sacrifice, Descent 1+2, Freespace 2, and more.

You already own some of the games? That is not a problem--users who already own some of the games in the bundle will receive a giftable code for titles they have. The holiday season is coming soon(ish), so if any of you is looking for a nice little gift package of unmatchable value for the gamer they love, gift a code for the whole bundle!

Do you love GOG.com more than the words can say? Well, if you can't say it, you can spread the love by sharing, commenting, tweeting, redditing, posting, finger-painting, or even simply approaching strangers in the streets and yelling "Interplay Pay What You Want on GOG!".

Pay What You Want for Interplay Games--don't wait, this offer will not last forever!
the 3 games I want are in the top tier, but i cant justify spending $35 for a load of games i will never play - guess i will wait till they on offer :)

bevinator: Interplay still owns the rights to the Black Isle name, so the started up another Black Isle Studios, staffed with a bunch of folks who'd never worked there before. It was a pure publicity move, and AFAIK they haven't even announced they're working on a game yet.

gameon: Lol. It's a shame they have to resort to that.
It doesn't necessarily mean they won't make something good though. ;)
They guys that started original Black Isle were unknown before they became famous, and it seems everyone is forgetting this as they are around for godzilion years.
I don't own a single game in the lowest tier.

I don't own seven games in the middle tier.

I own all games in the highest tier.

Hrm.
Heh. The best games are locked into the "full" price. No worries on my part though. I already picked up everything that I wanted from Interplay's catalog. It's still a good deal overall.

I just may pick up one or two games I've been considering during the eventual Christmas sale.
Happy 4th birthday GOG! Spectacular deal for me, but I'm afraid of what tomorrow might bring. Good thing we got 2 weeks for this deal, I'm gonna wait a little bit. And already over 10,800 sales at an average of $11.29, not bad.

Licurg: *lose Also, which ones?

bevinator: Fallout for one. The rights to distribute Fallouts 1+2 go to Bethesda quite soon. And since Steam has crawled up Bethesda's ass and laid eggs, it's unlikely that they'll want to keep them here.
Can anyone confirm that GOG will lose Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics next year?

What will happen to people who have already bought them (but haven't downloaded them) on GOG?

Sure, but if they lose their old games licenses, would they have the cash to produce something good? Or anything at all for that matter.

Surely though, if someone else picks up the digital re-sale rights from interplay, it'll be business as usual for GOG etc.

Things could go pear-shaped though, like with system shock and the insurance company.

Fallout, most likely. ;)

So far you would still be able to download any games that you have purchased, but who knows if that will always be the case.

What's going to happen is the rights to Fallout will transfer to Zenimax. What happens next is anyone's guess. Ideally, this could be a way to get Zenimax's library onto GOG someday, but based on the present way they are doing business (Steamworks exclusively) they may simply have all other retailers pull the game from their shelf, and potentially even out of people's own GOG libraries. As you can see from GOG's best-selling list, the Fallout games are near the top so they would be pissing off a LOT of people in such a scenario.
Good promo to bring new customers to gog. Personally I already got everything I'm interested in from Interplay, so I'm hoping for another nice weekend promo ;-)

... yeah. I can grab every single Interplay game I don't own for twelve bucks or so...
