Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Dammit, I really won't want to fall asleep!
They probably shouldn't have started with an 80% discount on the first item. Don't Starve doesn't look quite as tempting at 66% off.
Honestly, this sale is very predatory... I really expect better of you GoG...This is crap that I'd expect from Ubisoft or EA.

I really don't like the while supplies last, it's digital content, there's no limit on supplies and it's artificial and really is a tactic to make people buy on impulse, most sales do this but most have a reasonable frame to think about it. This is really a car salesman tactic that leaves me wondering if I'm valued as a customer at all from GoG.
One upside of this questionable promo is the fist fights breaking out in here between people arguing whether it's a good promo or not. :P

ashley2ashes: this promo sucks. i'm in classes all day, now i'm probably going to miss the games that i've been waiting patiently to go on sale so i can buy them. god knows when they'll even go on sale again.
Don't worry, Christmas is just around the corner. They'll probably have a huge sale then too: grab what you want then.
Fun idea. But my wishlist is too short to make me sit glued for the night :) And most of those games are new releases, so I don't think they'll go on a promo already :)

ne_zavarj: Have you ever heard of time zones ? Also some of us have a job , family . Do you think everyone is sitting in front of their PCs all day and staring at the screen while waiting for the new flash deal ?
So? What happens other than you miss it? You will curse your luck and buy it on another promo if you really want it. Big deal.
Also, everybody will miss some deals. With 101 games and 46 minutes for SS2 to sell (the Hertog's idea of counter would be nice) it will certainly run for more than one day so in any time zone you'll get chance to get some game.

keeveek: Paople fighting over games, that can be... interesting :D
yes! i like this, too. i mean, i am a very peaceful person. but it's games, so fighting can be fun.

maybe one day we get a promo where a multiplayer game is used to determine who gets the discount or the amount of discount for a game. even if it is a rather simple game (i'm not good in First Person Shootern anyway), this would be fun. ;)
Is there a list what was in the promo already?
This is a really interesting idea for a promo. I admit, I'll feel sad for the people who miss out on good deals because of work and sleep and such, and I myself have work just a few hours from now so I'll likely miss some good stuff. But still, it seems like fun. And it won't be the first time any of us have missed a good sale.

Holidays man, nearly every game in the catalog has gone on at least 50% discounts the past two holiday sales.
Nice, Twitter updates when the next sale happens.

I only have one game on my wishlist: Long Live The Queen (well, perhaps Carmageddon 2: Carpocalyse Now too), but even if those games don't see a sale today, the promo is interesting to spectate as well.

So the promo is crap, just because you're AFK? And you login just to say that?
