MikeMaximus: They do but very very little is exclusive, if any of it anymore. I honestly don't care what they use either. I don't really understand the shitstorm over GFWL all the time. Cause it's cool to hate Microsoft.
StingingVelvet: From what I have heard if you actually play multiplayer its shitty interface is thrown in your face, but as a singleplayer guy GFWL has never given me a problem.
Try playing Gears of War then... Wont let you save your singleplayer/campaign game without connecting to GFWL...

Sorry, this is not true, I have Gears on PC and played it w/o using the GfWL saves, you only need to use the online stuff if you want achievements.
rampancy: It's not an optimal situation, but nevertheless, if PC gamers really were serious about wanting Dark Souls on the PC, this is the time for them to put their money where their mouths are.
Problem with that is that it means supporting GfWL (if it is what ends up being used). A plagued port that makes a lot of money shows companies that they can all make plagued ports and that will be good enough since it worked for xyz.
While on one hand, Dark Souls on PC is a good thing. On the other hand if it's handled badly then it only sets an image to others to follow this route. Think of it like this. Starcraft 2 had always-online DRM and it sold a ton of copies. This has shown other companies that they too can force this abusive DRM onto customers if you try to make it seem like something else and refuse to call it always-online DRM. The new version of Simcity is going to be doing this but they don't want to call it what it is (without any other function, its Ubisoft-styled).

GFWL doesn't allow for gamers not in the select countries they support to buy/activate games that use their system. Therefore, many who signed the petition won't even get the chance to buy the game, while others will simply frown its many issues (For example, you can't change the residence country on your profile, ever. So if you ever move abroad you'll need a new account) and refuse to get it due to that.
It's not about gamers putting our money where our mouth is. It's more like namco/bandai are shooting themselves in the foot. Most GFWL games don't sell well. I can't really see why developers keep using it.
Frankly I'm much more concerned about the "straight port" part of the whole thing than some stupid GFWL which I couldn't care less about.
I really hope Namco's guys didnt mean we'll get a totally messed up shitport like Rage or Dungeon Siege 3 with nonexistent graphic options and impossible mouse/keyboard controls. There's no way after statements like that I'm gonna preorder it. I'll wait for a review on sites like GameBanshee or Eurogamer that don't tend to overhype things and then see.

For like the 1,000,000th time internet, you have to sign in to a profile but it can be an OFFLINE profile.
I have never understood why PC gamers cry about using Games For Windows Live. The program always installed with out a problem and never intruded on the games I was playing. PC gamers really need to learn to bite their lip and stop crying like a spoiled brat.
On topic of the game, I can't wait for the pc version to arrive. Hopefully they've ironed out some of the bugs from the console version.

Ugh.
" From what I have heard if you actually play multiplayer its shitty interface is thrown in your face, but as a singleplayer guy GFWL has never given me a problem" The point is you still have to use Game For Windows Live to create said account to be able to play properly so you still have to go through the shitty interface which is why I mentioned it because you said you avoid it by playing single player but in this case you cant...

Good for you. Unfortunately for some people it flat out doesn't work, making the games using it completely unplayable. Don't assume that your experience is the same as everyone elses.

get real. you think people complain about GfWL for no reason? just because you've been lucky so far doesn't mean it works flawlessly for everybody. i had been using GfWL for a few years without problems when all of a sudden i got all kinds of issues with the client. i found threads about that particular problem all over the place. 'solutions' inlcuded spending an hour in the registry deleting individual entries. still wouldn't work. re-install impossible. .NET framework corrupted. re-install impossible.
i never got GfWL to work again until i formatted and re-installed Windows.
bottom line: GfWL works fine as long as it works (d'oh), but it can get fucked up good. i never had a problem like that with Steam in over 7 years...
romulus16: Just saying you have to use Games for Windows Live whether or not your online to be able to save your game
yeah, but it doesn't have to be an ONLINE profile. it can be an OFFLINE profile as well. haven't like 25 different people pointed that out to you already?!?
