romulus16: Wow... Once again show where I actually said you have to be online then your opinion on this actually has merit....
Look, I don't give a fuck about my opinion having merit or winning an argument with a such a pedantic person. What I do care about is that you gave bullshit, misleading information, that is not true and I'm correcting you. Everyone else is trying to be more polite about it, but you might notice that no one is going for your backpedaling explanation. It's bullshit, but who fucking cares?

No, you do not have to be connected for GfWL to play GoW PC or many other GfWL titles, you do not need a GfWL Live profile (despite the name an offline or local profile acts nothing like an actual profile, it's branding, nothing more), your save games will not be encrypted, at no time will you be prevented from saving, etc.

romulus16: the game makes you use it's interface for single player...
If you mean it mentions it on a menu screen, sure. If you think that constitutes using GfWL I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never actually used it.

Elmofongo: Because ever since that was announced pc gamers were angry and demanded the game to be released somewhere else like Steam, but so far Namco Bandai has not commented on the situation.
hope this means i can earn me another 1000 acheivment points!

i thought MS had stopped caring about GFWL. that was the impression i got with Fallout: NV, as that game went to Steam, yet MS paid for the first exclusive DL content for xbox. that said to me that they had stopped supporting the service, but had not abandonded video games. bad assumption on my part then.
So, uh, now that all that's settled... where do we all pre-order it? Seriously, no matter how much bitching is involved in the release of this game, it's still one of the best games I've ever played.

You can even search the forums. I think there's a new "Dark Souls is a masterpiece" thread every other week.

You know, now that I actually have an XBox Live profile I should do this more with all my old GfWL titles. Does it still work with the older ones like Overlord?

What is your deal with Overlord? That never was, or will be GFWL. ;-P

I was almost certain it was, but it's been ages since I installed it, and I know I would have "passed" on any Live stuff back then (since it was optional), so it's entirely possible I'm misremembering. My apologies if so.

mushy101: The games with ZDPP need a one time connection to verify the game. Older GFWL games are fully offline playable, but newer ones aren't.
I have some games with GfWL from 2009 and they are playable offline, but maybe those aren't considered "new". However, I do agree that we se more and more developers using that optional feature.

Still, with GfWL there is a chance that they don't come with it, while on Steam we know for sure that they use it.

" that you gave bullshit, misleading information" Pretty sure that screen shot proved your full of shit... And how was it misleading to begin with? You have to use GFWL to be able to save your game...

"No, you do not have to be connected for GfWL to play GoW PC or many other GfWL titles" You have to use the program to be save your game.... (http://i.cubeupload.com/1hgS0l.png once again in case you have a short memory)

"you do not need a GfWL Live profile" ... you do though... (Refer back to screen shot)

"your save games will not be encrypted, at no time will you be prevented from saving, etc. " I dont remember ever mentioning this, all I said is you need to connect to GFWL to be able to save...

"If you mean it mentions it on a menu screen, sure. If you think that constitutes using GfWL I'm going to go out on a limb and say you've never actually used it." Uh you have to press the home key to bring up GFWL if I remember right then sign into your profile and all that and as a response to "if you actually play multiplayer its shitty interface is thrown in your face, but as a singleplayer guy GFWL has never given me a problem. " then it is true because if you want to save the game you have to go through the interface or if you want to avoid well then dont quit/marathon it .....

EDIT And pretty sure this looks like the GFWL program within Gears http://i.cubeupload.com/4q8Tdv.png
