Here's the launch trailer.

You can download it here.

Before you ask, it leans more on the subweapons and the whip is for when something gets too close, but ideally you won't want to let the monsters get that far.
I wish it used the Doom engine.

Still, pretty cool.
Awesome, thanks for the heads up. Downloaded my copy :)
Wow, this looks really fun! Thanks for sharing!
Downloaded it, installed it, completed the first level. It's really fun, and quite well polished for a fan project.

Takes a moment to set up the controls properly, and make sure you activate jumps and free mouse aiming. Also, you can use F6 for quick saves -- which comes in handy since the game isn't easy!

I think the mix of classic Castlevania and DOOM style gameplay works quite well. I wonder why they never thought of creating an official Castlevania FPS.
The best part was when I read the title and for a moment envisioned Castelvania in full glory of Doom (2016) engine.

The worst moment came a second later when I realized that id Tech 6 engine is not licensed to anyone outside of Bethesda, who don't own the rights to Castelvania. So I expected the original Doom (id Tech 1) engine.

The mediumest moment was looking at the game. It's QZDoom, which is some sort of OpenGL update to the Doom engine, making it look something like Quake 1.

Don't be a graphics whore! Hah hah.

I guess it would be unrealistic to expect a little fan project to look like the latest AAA DOOM release. I think it's a really well made and entertaining game. Then again I'm biased, as Castlevania was one of my first video games as a kid.

Loosely related to the topic, does anyone here know what the chances are of the modern Lords of Shadow Castlevania games arriving here on GOG? As far as I know GOG doesn't sell any Konami games? I've been thinking of buying the PC versions on Steam, but I'd rather buy them here given the option.

Slim to none. As far as I know Konami never had any DRM-free games.

As a heads up though, those games really don't feel much like Castlevania.
a must play! lovely gore...nice ost ! Doomvania!

I know, I've played the first! But I never finished it and would potentially like to give them another go on PC.

They're essentially God of War clones with some hints of Castlevania flavour. They're none the less really well made games, though. Very high production values ( art direction, music, voice acting ), solid gameplay, and many optional challenges and unlockable content.

Guess we'll have to wait for that crowdfunded project, for a proper new Castlevania game.

By the way, what about Metal Gear Solid V -- does it come loaded with any DRM, aside from Steam?
I need to grab this before Nintendo issues a C&D order.

Castlevania is not a Nintendo IP.

No. As far as I can tell, Konami developed and published them (and it's certainly still their franchise); Nintendo was just the manufacturer of the main platforms on which they were originally released.

No idea. : )
