So, earlier this year a petition was started to get Dark Souls ported to PC (http://petitionbureau.org/DarkSoulsForPC).

Earlier in March it was announced that a German magazine would be announcing the port of a console exclusive to PC.

The Dark Souls facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/darksouls) posted
"An announcement is coming......
We have something in-store for our DARK SOULS Fans ! Make sure to check out the following page (Link below), share, like and tell everyone."

The cover to April's issue of Australian PC Powerplay magazine is "YOU DIED" written in red on a black background, taken from the game Dark Souls. (http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/3/21/2889682/dark-souls-getting-pc-release-all-signs-point-to-yes)

Now this could be a DLC announcement, but earlier today on the thread that started the petition (http://forums.namcobandaigames.eu/showthread.php?t=96407&page=110) Shoupinou, a Namco Bandai employee, posted "I can feel joy in the air. I guess everyone saw this: https://www.facebook.com/darksouls/app_352678381442367"; when confronted he says "I f only I was 100% sure..." followed with "Thank you (You want to make me blush ? ) but it is more accurate to say that we all did it together. " in another post. That last post all but comes out and says it is being ported. Edit: Relevant quotes start on page 110 and end on 111.

Anyway, Dark Souls is a damn good game (though some issues like frame rate). Glad it looks to be coming out for PC, I advise everyone who likes RPGs to check it out.

Interesting. I was thinking of getting a console and making the two "Souls" games early purchases. Would be cool to see a PC version.
Ooh, nice.
I hope people aren't expecting the game to control as well with mouse+keyboard as with a good gamepad.

That's why there's always the backup Xbox 360 controller, despite not owning a 360 xD

But yeah, good controls would be good :)
Over 50 hours in now on my PS3 and level 56. Stuck in Anor Londo currently, cant get past the bosses Ornstein & Smough. Main problem is constantly getting invaded by phantoms in turn killing Knight Solaire making the battle more difficult after I banish them (kill them).

If you are wanting to play Souls games on console make sure you get a PS3 as Demons isnt available on 360. Prefer Demons as I prefer the level structure and been through it twice now! Dark is a fair bit harder but it demands playing, even though difficulty is way higher it still draws you in.

If it does land on PC it will most definately be a purchase at somepoint, 60FPS and 1920x1080 res. Will be sweet with no slowdown and the option of mouse / keyboard control.

Agreed. They're one of the exclusives I'm jealous of.
Game's a masterpiece. It would be a great asset to PC gaming, not to mention how much the game itself would benefit from being on PC with the amount of users it could see and the better performance we would probably get.

Didn't Steam get some JRPGs exclusive recently? Maybe they are trying new waters?

Try it offline if you have to, wont get invaded and you can still summon Solaire

That is what I missed most from Demon's Souls. Felt like too much walking in comparison to Demon's Souls.

The thing I missed most was

Soul of the mind, key to life's ether.
Soul of the lost, withdrawn from its vessel.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended.
So the world might be mended.

Sounds like it. I've never heard of it before, but from what I've read here it was supposed to be a console exclusive until it was released on Steam.

With AAA publishers slowly but steadily moving away, Steam needs a new spiel.

I picked up the first one yesterday....lemme just say, this is one of the most sadomasochistic games ever made but it is freaking stellar.

It's weird that I haven't seen more people mention what seemed to me a much higher difficulty compared to Demon's. I got helplessly stuck on one of the first proper bosses in Dark Souls (the two big guys on top of a roof, you probably know who I mean). I just couldn't do it (or haven't been able to yet, at least). In comparison I never needed more than two or three attempts at the first and second tiers of bosses in Demon's Souls (haven't actually finished this yet, but it's purely because I got lost in one of the bigger levels). It probably works in Demon's favour that you can hoard healing items, whereas in Dark Souls you've got a finite amount of healing flasks. I don't like that change much, so far. I must go back to it at some point and give it another chance.

Also, Dark Souls' intro is amazingly dull compared to Demon's, which is basically the most epic intro movie ever. That music!

Ah, the Maneater boss on Demons Souls. You can actually take one of them out before you go through the fog door with bow and arrow. You can see it in the distance using the aim pushed right up against fog gate before entering :

http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/walk3-2-boss

If you have poison magic you can poison the second one. Run past the fire in the middle so it loses track and it will land below the steps then move slowly behind it and lock on, then just cast poison cloud and you can take it out that way, same works on Flamelurker and also the final boss. You have to use the thief / clever rats ring that you get on the first level behind the knight.
