HappyPunkPotato: Would women in the past even have had much chance to get into the games industry and create the games they wanted to play?
Gersen: I don't know, ask Roberta Williams, Jane Jensen or Lori Cole or the others....
I always find it fully how nowadays some peoples are quick to forget that some of the most influential figures of early gaming industry were woman.
Not to forget those cowardly ghosts in Super Mario World that only attacks when you turn your back on them. Shigeru Miyamoto's wife is the source of inspiration for those.
Edit: Had to fact-check and the gaming magazine I read ages ago was wrong. Damn journos.
"In an interview with Nintendo Power magazine, Mario franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto stated that while working on Super Mario Bros. 3, co-designer Takashi Tezuka had the idea of putting his wife in the game. According to Miyamoto, "(Tezuka's) wife is very quiet normally, but one day she exploded, maddened by all the time he spent at work. In the game, there is now a character who shrinks when Mario looks at it, but when Mario turns away, it will grow large and menacing".[2] "
