Yeah, I realise it's not Gog's fault but for crying out loud Gog could push harder for the game or at least a modifiable version special for Gog.

I really tried to like Skyrim... Steam says I've played it for 48 hours, so I think I gave it a huge chance! But... nope. I can't like it. It's boring. It's all grey. The story is the worst I've ever seen in a Bethesda game. I haven't had any fun during these 48 hours. No, wait, that's wrong... The beginning of the game wasn't THAT bad. It's way better than breaking out of a prison to fight some rats in the sewers, or waking up from a coma, not knowing who you are. That dragon stuff from Skyrim's beginning was pretty cool, compared to lame openings like those two.

To each their own, but I prefer the old style you mention much more than being forced into being the "chosen one." That style reminds of Bioware games that force the player into a role and only allow them to flesh out their character within that role. I prefer the more open-ended approach that lets me roleplay from the jump, particularly being able to play a character that is unremarkable, so to speak. That said, I do wish Skyrim could come here DRM-free, particularly if there was a DRM-free way to get mods like alternate openings (that preserve the more open-ended approach I prefer).

Maybe when Galaxy 2 is released for the public. or maybe not if the release date is right around CyberPunk2077's release. In any case I mainly blame Bethesda because I can't see why GOG wouldn't want it here $$$$$$.

Have Bethesda even released any "newer" games since their initial slate? I feel like they haven't. I do hope they eventually do, but maybe the sales aren't there enough to bother. The vaaaaast majority of people will own these games on Steam already, and only a handful of us are insane enough to repurchase them.

I did get Fallout 3 and New Vegas in $5 sales just for client-free gaming. I'd do the same for Dishonored, Skyrim and others. Just not sure Bethesda cares enough about my $5 to bother.

I too have been waiting for a long time. Just as I was waiting for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I mention them because that was the same time that GOG stopped supporting XP, which was my system then.

The point here is that GOG could probably satisfy Bethesda's concerns if they released Skyrim (wait for it...) on Galaxy only, in a way that you would have to be logged in to play. I don't use Galaxy and can see a time when Skyrim is released here (hooray) but only on Galaxy (Oh, here we go again, as with Fallout3 and NV / but not on XP).

Funny thing is, I used to be on Steam (not knowing what it was in my innocence / ignorance). I had Skyrim, Fallout3 and New Vegas there and completed them. Then my HDD went phut one day, and I couldn't log in to Steam anymore. never been back since, nor wanted to. GOG all the way for me now. (Sorry for the offtopic rant).

So I suppose the question is (for non Galaxy users) would you sign up to Galaxy to get Skyrim?

If it proves a success perhaps GOG could entice some other AAA lootbox, casino, hand holding, cut scenes all the way entertainment.

that has nothing to do with your ability to login to steam on a long term basis - you can do it on multiple computers and replacing an hd has zero effect on your account access other than having to install the client and login again.

not being able to remember your account, password or access the email for it however will. same as gog.
