You're in Germany, software censor capital of the world. What'd you expect?

kohlrak: I'm curious if you can even view the gogmix about it.
Yup, in the GOGMix all titles are displayed, the links don't work though.

timppu: Perkele Merkele!

You Germans should really vote for more gaming-friendly and less control-freaky decision-makers. If I was Hitler ...
Yeah, from the POV of a dictator, every problem has a simple solution. ;P

I can confirm it's German geoblock.

diegozone3000: Okay, then I hereby officially admit that I was wrong. Sorry for the hassle!

I really love(d) GOG, but nowadays one could think GOG is capable of pulling such a stunt...

As long as I get my DRM-free installers I'm happy (and don't really care for the rest).

But GOG often forgot to inform users when games are being delisted from the store.

Australia is not far behind. For even more silly reasons...

And we don't have to go too far back in time to find an example. Not even a month ago: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_silently_removed_gray_matter_on_july_24th

Usually with five whole minutes to go.

That's not true, Grey Matter is the only recent example and that was mainly down to a change of ownership.

I'm on this site waaaaay too much, and the last several "delisted" games were already gone by the time I saw the thread...

Poland

[EDIT] I take it back, "Fez" was still available... I made it in just under the deadline.

Fez 5 days

Terratech 4 days

Everything, a week before it was delisted.

Myst, nearly a week before it was delisted.

No idea what Poland has to do with this though.

Not just the software censor capital of the world...

Fun fact: Back in the 80s, when the movie you take your username and avatar from was released on VHS in Germany, it was cut by about a minute despite being rated adults only. And it STILL went on the blacklist for harmful media.

To be fair though, the institutions have become waaaaay more reasonable during the last decade. Commando is off the list and widely available uncut on DVD. Games and films not being sold is now mostly an issue of laziness/unwillingness to spend money on behalf of the publishers, who don't bother with having their work rerated. I'm fairly certain 95% or more of the region locked games would easily pass an appeal. Freakin' Shadow Warrior was rated as suitable for minors upon appeal.

Oh really?

Let's look at some facts.

Terratech, removed from catalog within hours of announcement.

Everything, removed from catalog within hours of announcement.

Human Fall Flat, removed within minutes of announcement.

Star Control series, removed within hours of announcement.

Fair enough some were shorter than remembered, but much like me, you are also incorrect in claiming it's the usual case. You are also overlooking that it's not always in our control.

As for the Poland kek part of your message, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Oh dear!

I was kind of throwing out the baby with the bath water here, so please don't bother Linko90 for my mistake. ;-P
See: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/several_games_seem_to_be_unlisted/post19

I also didn't intend to ignite a censorship discussion. Even if games get pulled from store, I really don't think that GOG took initative in (by far) most cases.
They just have to abide to contracts/the law (no matter how silly they may be, especially in the case of "German Censorship (TM)").

Usually I prefer to "...remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it."
So now that I have removed all doubt with this "legendary unepic debut" thread of mine, I'll just fling myself into pleasure so you can decide which corner of your "fools" drawer to put me in. ;-)

I came here in 2013 for the beer..., erm..., DRM free offline installers but I'm staying because of the (at least in large parts) reasonable community and GOG (mostly) holding up that principle.
Though it sometimes was a bumpy ride the last years (e.g. update policy, missing linux versions/multiplayer that are available elsewhere, etc... maybe aptly to be summed up by: "2nd class citizenship") I'm not (yet) ready to give in and join the grumbling. (Nevertheless I admit that there are some valid reasons one could do so.)

If GOG could somehow manage to give me a simple "one click sync solution" for my offline installers -hell, even if integrated into Galaxy- I would instantly throw away my list of "bad karma points" that might have accumulated since I joined... (But that is more a community wishlist thing. I know about gogrepo.py, but didn't have time to check the source and I am kind of reluctant to give my credentials to a 3rd party tool. But maybe I'll give it a try soon.)

So have a nice evening all (where applicable) and, like one of my favourite youtubers puts it at the end of his videos: "stay placid".

So long!
