jjsimp: I'm torn. This is one of the first games in a while that is RTwP, but the graphics are just so dated. I grew up with these kind of graphics, but I don't think I can step back that far in the graphics department for a new game.

JudasIscariot: Pixels look good forever, 3D ages horribly :)
This. So very much this.

Just look at the first two Broken Sword games: charming, beautifully animated, passionately crafted. Then 3D came along and they jumped on the 3D bandwagon, and while 3 and 4 didn't look half bad when they came out, they aged badly as hell. Hence why Revolution reversed back to 2D with Broken Sword 5.

So very true. Mind if I use it (with proper credit, of course)?

Bit late here, but with a bit over 50 hours left on the campaign here's the last update:

Update #8: Here at the end of all things & what lurks in the shadows of the Staglands
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1649838104/serpent-in-the-staglands/posts/821168

You can hear the music track they used in the pitch video at the bottom of the update.
With less than 24 hours to go I thought I'd bump this thread.
Fellow Gogers, lend me your ears!

It would appear that Serpent in the Staglands has become the proverbial cRPG plague as everyone from the gaming media to gamers has for the most part been avoiding the game.

Even GOG appears to be non-committal to bringing this game here. In their Project update #17 the game's creators said that:

For an update on GOG: they are interested, but nothing is set in stone as of yet.
While this isn't an outright rejection of Serpent in the Stanglands, I do believe it is time for the community to show that the game is wanted here and that it would be a perfect addition to the catalogue. As such, I ask you all to go and vote for the game on the wishlist and hopefully, the next update will be a more positive one.
So GOG is willing to bring that game that Steam rejected over the developer's behavior, but they aren't willing to bring what's supposed to be the spiritual successor to Darklands...?
I note that the quote indicates that GOG are interested; it may simply be that they're not committing simply because the game isn't yet done, and they don't yet feel fully confident in the final product--which seems potentially quite reasonable to me, especially with what seems to be a fairly new developer. After all, quite a bit could happen between here and the release date. (I'm not saying that it's likely, just that I don't see a problem with being cautious about an as-yet unfinished game

Come to that, saying that "nothing is set in stone" doesn't read as a rejection to me--far from it. It merely expresses doubt, which again seems reasonable to me. Indeed, that seems like quite a positive quote, as I read it!

Note that Paranautical Activity (which I presume to be the other game that you're referring to) is, I believe, actually complete.
The art looks amazing, but.... Real time combat?!?

You're probably right, just GOG has rejected quite a few games that I'm interested in/liked, so this kind of response draws some concern from me.
Has gog rejected any Kickstarters of note?

I can understand that, I do believe--but do beware of letting such experiences bias your interpretations of future such statements from GOG, as (I'm guessing) was the case here. One can end up with a somewhat pessimistic outlook on these things, regardless of whether it's accurate or not. :/

Anyway, for now, I think that there's plenty of room for hope, and it's perhaps too early for a solid decision from GOG one way or the other. ^_^

We'll see, in the meantime I still need to figure out if Darklands has a definitive endgame.

It's real time with pause.
