Lifthrasil: Force of habit. I've been introducing so many new players to this game that explaining it somehow became part of it. :-)
avatar
JoeSapphire: hmmm... ò_σ

how's that? Do you play it otherwhere?
Sometimes, yes. During conferences in the evenings mostly. So IRL on a table.
avatar
Lifthrasil: WHAT? Not me? I am disappoint!
I know, right? :D

avatar
Lifthrasil: @GR: about your nomination: nominating the very next player in line would have been bad. It would give the nominated player the chance to participate in two successive governments. Once as Chancellor, once as President and as long as we don't know anything about players, that's a conglomeration of power that is to be avoided. Personally, I would have nominated someone from the lower half, but well, what's done is done.
The bit about nominating Joe was a bit of a joke/not so serious......also with the current odds(around 1:1 amounts of both teams) there is also a very good chance that Joe would be on the same side. :)

avatar
JoeSapphire: Thanks for asking! I simply asked myself 'If I was the random number generator, who would I pick as the fascists?' and that's how I know it's RW, fish and trent.
You wouldn't be able to pick anyone as you'd be a computer program/etc and unable to "manipulate" yourself. ;D

Is that even a word? Anyone got a dictionary? o.0

OK.
Hello everyone, fun times, how many fascists do we have, I take it 3, which weights it in our favour as Libs as opposed to 7 player.

Do we want to play Meta because it helps Liberals? 2 Meta plays are:

15 26 - repeat (everyone else gets skipped - - on conflict the players change and on Red Red Red players change)

14 47 71 repeat (everyone else gets skipped - on conflict the players change and on low blue deck players change)
OK so actually reading the thread it seems GameRager has already picked RWarehall - I oppose this because not using meta hurts Liberals because it allows fascists to manipulate other fascists into office

I want either:

25, 36, 52, 63

or

25 58 82
So I vote NO @pookamustard on the basis of this being a none meta appointment. I realise this is slightly unfair to 1 and 3 as I didn't note this prior to them nominating but randomness helps Liberals in this game. So I do urge Liberals to adopt one of my proposed Meta Systems.

Note experienced played always play in 1 meta or another and I could have favoured 1 meta over another to favour myself without you know and you wouldn't know any different

trentonlf: So if I am understanding the rules correctly with 8 players it's 3 fascist's and 5 liberal's? That seems to heavily favor the fascist.

As for GameRager's nomination I'll more than likely vote yes.
No, 7 player is optimal 50-50 winrate with 3 fascists and 4 liberals. There's an argument that 8 player should give fascists a free policy passed at the start.

If Liberal I'd consider looking at my meta/random pick argument in order for fascists to be pinned back (hopefully). Because if the first player is fascist he picks a fascist in the first government and they control the board there after

@scene: we talked about this before the game started. The majority was against meta-play.

1. it makes the game less complex and therefore boring
2. it can be abused by the Fascists, especially if one of them is suggesting the meta numbers, like you just did.

Of course you are free to base your votes on some arbitrary meta. Or to pretend that you base your votes on some meta that happens to fit your agenda, if you are Fascist. But I will base my votes on the actions and words of the other players and on the conclusions I draw from them.
Just in case anyone doesn't PM his vote:

PookaMustard: 6. When you vote on a government, PM your vote to me in secret. You can change this vote anytime for as many times as you like until everyone has voted. When everyone has voted, the votes will be revealed in public.

is that true? I think you, trent and pooka were against and no-one else had a strong opinion.

@ all Gentlemen, has anybody other than scene played in a game that had a prescribed-chancellor selection in the manner scene describes here? Was the game awful?

@scene Sirrah, when we played the game on discord you tried in vain to convince people to use your selection method there too, but you were on the fascist team. Why did you argue for it if it favours liberals?

lololol

but my question before was genuine - how are you feeling? I get the impression you're a little frustrated and anxious forvthe game to start, is it so?
Not trying to be a spoil sport or anything, but if we adopt this meta thing for the game I will asked to be subbed out.

You object so strongly?
avatar
trentonlf:
cos you're kinda saying "I'd rather abandon the game than consider supplementscene's strategy", which is surely more contrary to the spirit of the game than having an agreed-upon nomination sceme is, isn't it?

I picked at random as I am a bit lazy and also wtf are those numbers? o.0

(I only read a bit of the manual so far, tbh)
